Title: Everything you need to know about cooking with tomatoes
Review: What a winner! I’ve found myself reaching for this book again and again. Which fresh tomatoes are best for a particular recipe, which kind to grab if you’re using canned, what to do with the ripe tomatoes my neighbor just dropped off. It’s the perfect handy reference guide for all tomato related cooking and the recipes are fantastic! First time I’ve grated tomato for Pan Con Tomate, which was simultaneously simple and stellar. Delicious gazpacho. And we LOVE the Shakshouka. An excellent year round cookbook for both long time tomato lovers and those new to the game! Highly recommend!

Title: Tempting Recipes, but Not Enough of Them
Review: Love tomatoes? Tomato Love: 44 Mouthwatering Recipes for Salads, Sauces, Stews, and More is a great cookbook with recipes using tomatoes. Although tomatoes are readily available year round, summer seems to be the time the gardens are overflowing with them, and it becomes necessary to find new ways to use them up. This cookbook includes a variety of tempting recipes using both fresh and dried tomatoes (incidentally, the sun-dried tomato scones are great). While some recipes are for sauces made with tomatoes, there are other unique popular recipes such as Shakshuka, Patlican Soslu, and Caramelized Onion and Tomato Jam. The recipes are written in the traditional form and are easy to follow. Also, the recipes are all fairly easy, so anyone – cooks from beginning to advanced – can prepare them with picture-perfect results. The cookbook includes beautiful photographs of almost every recipe, which is inspiring to anyone looking for a good recipe to use up their tomatoes. The only drawback to this cookbook is that there aren’t enough recipes. The 44 recipes included are excellent, but this cookbook is way too small, and a proper cookbook selling for the price shown should include at least double that amount of recipes. All told, tomato lovers will enjoy the recipes in this cookbook, and will want to include it on their cookbook shelves.Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Title: This book does tomatoes an injustice.....
Review: There is enough to love about tomatoes--and such a multitude of ideas, techniques, and flavors to pair them with--that if you are going to pair down a cookbook to a measly 44 recipes, you better make them count. Each one should be unique, stellar, surprising, and a "keeper". Each recipe should highlight tomatoes. And per the implication of the picture on the cover, most, if not all of those recipes should focus on fresh tomatoes.Obviously, just by reading my title here, you can guess that I think this book failed to put tomatoes up on the pedestal they deserve. If you came to this product page and are considering this book because your mouth is watering and your creativity is exploding after visiting a farmers' market sporting a bounty of tomatoes--reds, oranges, yellows, greens, small, medium, large, huge, smooth and lumpy--DO NOT BUY this book. You will be hugely disappointed. Now, if you are looking here in the middle of winter, I advise to pick this book up from your library. You can find a few good recipes that will be worth your time and effort. But there is not enough here to offer if you have a bounty of beautiful tomatoes on your kitchen counter. This book is shallow, unimaginative, and the writing is dull. Love of tomatoes needs more oomph and enthusiasm than what is provided here.Hey, if you are looking for a two-page spread for sliced tomato on a grilled cheese sandwich, this is your book. Or a pasta salad with salami and cherry tomatoes? Or there is a recipe that combines a spring veggie (sugar snap peas) with "high-summer" tomatoes and highlights a Tahini recipe. If any of that suits what you are looking for, this is your book. Many recipes are more about ingredients other than tomatoes, and that is quite a disappointment considering the minimal 44 recipes. How about this recipe: Cherry tomatoes, lettuce and cooked bacon on picks to swipe through a chipotle dip. There are some recipes to explore and tweak for yourself: Ham and Egg Breakfast Cups, or scrambled eggs with herbs and tomatoes. But there are lots of variations online for those ideas.I did like the Mushroom, Kale and Tomato Strata, the Caramelized Onion Tomato Jam, the Southwest Quinoa Salad, Instant Pot Black Lentil Stew (using canned whole tomatoes), and a Creamy Garlic Pasta (with ricotta and sun-dried tomatoes). The Sun-Dried Tomato Scones, the Pan con Tomate, and the Tomato Goat Cheese Tart recipes were blah.My suggestion: Go back in time and browse through some older tomato (or Mediterranean) -themed cookbooks. There are some gems from a decade or two ago. Maybe try looking for Tomato by Christine France. Many editions of this are here on Amazon.
