Soup--it warms, it’s versatile, and it’s economical. What else can bring a family together like a large pot of soup? It is almost a family ritual to gather around a hot, delicious smelling pot of freshly made soup with bowls in hands, before retiring to the dinner table. A bowl of soup is perfect for a cold winter day, for a sick child or spouse when they don’t want anything heavy, or as an appetizer before a large meal, or even the meal itself. Soup is as versatile as its recipes, which is why everyone should have a little knowledge on how to create a good batch of it. Included in Best Homemade Soups are 26 of the best soup recipes loaded with variety. They cover every point, from quick and easy bowls that you can whip out in a flash, or more complex masterpieces that are sure to wow even the pickiest of family members. Of course, no one bowl of soup is the same, just as no one person’s taste buds is the same as his brothers or sisters. That’s why Best Homemade Soups provides different versions of certain recipes. For example, there are two versions of a chicken noodle soup, and even three different ways for a delectable taco soup. Best of all, many of the homemade soups provided in the book are very economical. For example, some are perfect for using leftover foods like yesterday’s turkey. And if you aren’t feeling up to creating a large spread, a large amount of any of these soups is ideal for the main course for any dinner.

Title: Light, Tasty & Varied
Review: A collaboration of delicious homemade soups as requested by Ms. Larsonâs family and friends has come together in âBest Homemade Soupsâ amazingly well having a little bit of something for everyone. There are even 2-3 different ways of making the most requested and loved soups, vegetarian, spicy, and meat varieties included in the cookbookHaving in the last 6 months or so becoming a great fan of soups, with these recipes I am able to make one potful that can last days, with a few varieties allowing for a body cleanse which I did and I felt amazing. But this isnât for everyone so I would recommend this purchase on the delicious recipes and varieties alone.I must admit I loved some of the recipes so much I try to make one a fortnight, freeze daily quantities if freeze able and still get my soup fix for the day when I feel like a warm light mealâ¦a few of my favourite being âQuick Taco Soupâ, âOld-Fashioned Chilli Soupâ, and âChicken Noodle Soup"

Title: How to Use Prepared Items to Make Hearty Soups
Review: When looking for a cookbook that I want to keep, I look for several things. Does the book describe the types of ingredients that are being used? Are the amounts and directions specific? Are there any personal anecdotes about the recipes being shown? Are there pictures to show me how it should look? Does the recipe give a preparation time? Is the layout of the recipe easy to follow and preferably on one page. For the kindle there is an additional thing I look for. Is there a clickable table of contents? None of these are deal breakers. However, the more of the above questions that are answered in yes , the better chance of me purchasing it.This book as it has homemade in the title has an additional item to check for. In my opinion most of these recipes aren't truly homemade as most of the items start with cream of mushroom or cream of chicken. In one instance she even used a lasagna in a box as a basis for a soup. So while I take umbrage to the word homemade, as I consider homemade should be from fresh ingredients, it is still a very useful book.If you desire to have hearty soups that could almost be a meal in of themselves, that take minimal time (although a couple of them are designed for slow cookers). This is the book for you.The below comments refer back to what I expect in a cookbook.1. The format of the recipes is the top half is a list of ingredients, one ingredient per line.2. Below are the directions in paragraph form (not my favorite method).3. There are no illustrations.4. The author doesn't list number of servings. (Although sometimes she will mention if the recipe is only for 1 or 2 people.5. Cooking times are not listed.6. When she uses prepared items she lists the can size.7. She does talk about how the recipes have been received by friends and family.I recommend this book.

Title: Warmth in a cup
Review: Soups make my feel like my grand-mother comfort. I love soups and these recipes are very easy to cook. Meat is so high so this is an alternative to favoring your food with meat.

Title: Baked Stew Complete?
Review: The ingredients in this "soup" were easy to put together. However, there were no spices, salt or pepper, making me wonder if some ingredients were missing. Then after cooking for 3 of the 3 and a half hours, it had dried out and was starting to brown on the sides. I added some more water then with some beef flavoring, but it made me wonder again if there were ingredients missing.

Review: I was disappointed with this book as I was hoping for some good old-fashioned English recipes. However, this is obviously an American edition, with varied ingredients and measurements in cups. It was a free download so I can't complain, but had I known it was not an English version I wouldn't have bothered.
