The revised and expanded edition of this beloved Crescent City cookbook features gorgeous new photography and a foreword by Emeril Lagasse.
Born in New Orleans on Mardi Gras, Tom Fitzmorris is uniquely qualified to write about the city’s rich culinary heritage. He has been eating, celebrating, and writing about the city’s cuisine for more than thirty years. Now Fitzmorris is refreshing his popular cookbook New Orleans Food.
This volume features all of the favorite New Orleans recipes, steeped in Creole and Cajun traditions, but is updated to include a 16-page color insert with gorgeous food photography and an updated introduction. From small plates (Shrimp Rémoulade with Two Sauces) to main courses (Redfish Herbsaint, Creole Lamb Shanks) to desserts and drinks (Bananas Foster, Beignets, and Café au Lait), these dishes are elegant and casual, traditional, and evolved.

Title: A must have for any fan of New Orleans cuisine or THE MAN Tom Fitzmorris.
Review: If you're from New Orleans or have lived here and you love food it's likely you know exactly who Tom Fitzmorris is. If you're not, here's the intel:Tom was a local radio personality whose daily show, The Food Show, ran pretty much my entire life. Tom reviewed restaurants with the enthusiasm of someone who loves to dine - not as a critic whose elevated taste hinders his ability to know what a good poboy or muffuletta is. His health declined in the last few years but his legacy remains in the books he wrote - like this one. And this one may be the definitive title in his bibliography.Inside this book are many, many recipes. Not the cookie cutter cut and paste recipes you may see elsewhere. These are all what Tom perfected in his own kitchen after decades of eating, reviewing and befriending the chefs in the finest food city in America. They often deviate from a standard recipe and, when they do, Tom gives you the reason why this is the case. End result - a sometimes streamlined, sometimes expanded recipe that takes New Orleans cuisine to another level. It's mostly comfort food. Hitting all the receptors, these dishes are honed to please everyone at the table. And Tom makes the preparation as simple as possible while still delivering chef level quality.Highly recommended if you're from NOLA or if you passed through and you can't get the food out of your head.

Title: We Love Tom Fitzmorris
Review: My husband enjoys his radio show. Tom Fitzmorris is serious about his food. The recipes included are the real deal. Everything is amazing but keep in mind there are no quick and easy short cut recipes! If you are looking for authentic New Orleans recipes and don't mind putting the work in this is one of the best out there!

Title: Great book for learning to cook
Review: I will say that I may be one of the world's worst cooks. Tom has spent nearly 40 years dealing in the restaurant business and he knows food probably more than anyone. He is a food genius. I had a question about one of his recipes that was above my head since I am such a novice, and he took time to answer my questions over email. Therefore not only does he know great food better than anyone in the world, he will gladly respond to an email with a question that you have on one of his recipes. He also has a daily radio show where you can ask him questions on these recipes. So he is always available for questions as well.

Title: Delicious Recipies!!!
Review: I bought this cookbook for my Hubby about four months ago. (He does most of the cooking, it is a trick I learned many years ago from my Dad - If you want to get out of doing something, do it really bad and pretend like you do not know how! LOL It works! ). He cooks from this cookbook atleast twice a week. Everything that he has cooked, so far, has been absolutely delicious!!! I gave him two other cookbooks at the same time but Tom Fitzmorris's cookbook by far is his favorite & mine! Ssshh, don't forget our secret & buy them this cookbook - you both will be amazed of the fine dining quality food that is cooked from this book!

Title: Worth Buying
Review: Bought because we love New Orleans style cooking. Have made a few recipes and have been very pleased. Just the recipe for Rootbeer Glazed Ham, we ate on New Years Day, was worth buying the book.

Title: Thanks Tom for the amazing Mardi Gras meal!
Review: Tonight I made Cole Slaw, Red Beans, Chicken Gumbo, and Rice Pudding for a Mardi Gras dinner. Every dish was outstanding! I have over 100 cookbooks and I can honestly say that I've never made a better meal from a single cookbook. To top it all off the book cost me $4.10 new!!! Thanks Tom for such an amazing resource. Do not hesitate to buy this book!!!

Title: Good Eats
Review: I bought three copies of this book for my family members after recieving a copy of it while in N.O. I took it home and have tried a number of recipes. All have tasted great and they are pretty easy to follow. Only issue has been finding some of the "specialty" ingrediants in Midwest...I have had to learn to substitute some of the more obscure items.
