Title: This book is right on for me and my better half
Review: This book is much more than learning how to dance. I found myself thinking through some life lessons, and actually just felt good.

Title: More important than ever to read a book like this
Review: During these trying times we are all craving for a way to feel better, to care for ourselves (and our loved ones), to improve our mental health and also our physical health. We might have already experienced the burst of happiness and laughter after an impromptu dance session in the kitchen and the authors explain to us now why it feels so good and gives us reasons to make this a regular thing. An easy read that everybody can benefit from. Highly recommended!

Title: Will make you want to dance
Review: The authors have combined their shared passion for dance and neuroscience to write an informative and engaging book about the health benefits of dance. They thread research findings with their personal stories to illustrate the physical, mental, and emotional advantages of dance. Even readers who have never been on a dance floor will likely find themselves wanting to get on their feet and start moving to music. The final chapter of the book describes a variety of dance styles to help readers choose the right style for them. Read the book to discover how getting and staying fit at any age can also be fun.

Title: Good reference section
Review: I received a copy free from LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The first thing I look at with books like this is the references section. This book passes that test; it is filled with references to articles from numerous authors and peer-reviewed journals. The authors looked at not just their own work, but many works from different fields of research. The note from the authors and prologue are a nice way to get the reader excited and to understand just why this book was written and why we should believe what they are telling us. Credibility is established. Then they start getting into the main body of the work. Within each chapter they have some discussion of history and some research. They also intersperse it with anecdotes from the authors personal and professional lives. I enjoy those. They help break up what could get to be a bit too academic with some humanity. All in all, I may be biased (since I am a dancer who wrote her Masters thesis in recreation with a dance focus) but I enjoyed reading this and discovering more about why I love to dance.

Review: This book is an absolutely joyous read. So accessible. As a dancer teacher, the research cited confirms some of the things I already knew but didnât have the evidence for. There are also a few wow moments. It certainly confirms why I feel dance is so important to me, and why I feel my job is so important to my local community. Dance really is life.

Review: Dancing is the best medicineA wonderful book. Such a pleasure to read. The book feels like you are eavesdropping on these two scientists chatting about science and dance at a scientific conference (the âstoryâ of the book is set at a scientific conference). They let us participate in the creation of this book, and the illustrations by Julia F Christensen bring the two authors, and the dancing they are describing, another step closer to us. This format makes the science and the dry facts come to life, and all the beneficial effects of dancing on body and mind suddenly become crystal clear. The authorsâ passion for science and for dance is huge. I wish they had elaborated even more on some of the dance descriptions. For example, in Chapter 3, in wonderful imagery, the author leads us through a flamenco performance on stage; I felt right in the middle of it and was completely absorbed in the movements and the atmosphere.âImagine a spark that appears out of nowhere, explodes into a flash, and ignites a fire. Can you visualize the scene?â I loved it. And, yes, I could visualize it. But then it got scientific. Of course, they also needed to explain the science of what was going on in the spectatorsâ brains. That's ok, but I would have loved to be able to follow this wonderful visual imagery for a little longer. This isnât a criticism of the the book. But, please, more of such dancing-imagery in the next book. It's an extraordinary book that I have picked up many times. Each time, I find something new that inspires me.Madeleine Delbrel once said âIf you can't dance yourself, let your soul danceâ.At the moment, opportunities for dancing in a crowd are limited - in fact, Iâm currently in quarantine -. But with this book I can, at the very least, let my soul dance.Thank you, Julia F Christensen and Dong-Seon Chang.

Review: Bought as a gift for some dancing friends, so haven't read it myself. However, from a quick review of the table of contents and a browse of the various chapters, it looks very readable and interesting.

Review: The quote by bestselling author Kelly McGonigal on the front page says it all: "A book to share with anyone in your life who wants, loves, or needs to dance."
