Poetry for Neanderthals is a family-friendly party game similar to Taboo, where players earn points by getting their teammates to guess words and phrases. The catch is that the "Neanderthal Poets" are only allowed to use single-syllable words. If they use any words with more than one syllable, the other team gets to bop them with a 2-foot inflatable club. The team with the most points wins! This hilarious and engaging game is perfect for those looking for top board games for teens and board games for adults and family gatherings.
MAKE PARTY GREAT: We have fun game. Help team guess word on card. Catch is, use only one sound. No big words or boom stick hit you! Poetry for Neanderthals is the guessing game that needs you to channel your inner caveman. Speak in single syllables and win points with every correct guess. If you start talking fancy, someone from the opposing team gets to bop you with an inflatable club. Looking for a party game for kids and adults that will have the crowd roaring with laughter? You’ve found it!
COMPLETE GAME SET: You’ll have everything you need. Just call your crew, tell them to leave their grammar at the door, and let the games begin. You’ll receive 200 double-sided cards, 2 game boards, and a 2-foot inflatable No! Stick, and 1 sand timer. And we know you’ll get a bit too enthusiastic with the inflated club- it’s hard not to. That’s why we’ve thrown in a repair patch with each of the card games for families. In case anything happens, just patch it up, and keep on guessing.
WHOLE FAMILY FUN: Kids will love it. Teens won’t get enough of it. Adults will be scrambling to get their own copy. Meet your new game night staple. Poetry for Neanderthals is great for grownups & kids ages 7+ and accommodates 2-6 players. The more of your primitive family and friends you bring in on the fun, the more knee-slapping hilarity will ensue. Break it out after dinner, on lazy weekends, during picnics, or at work when your boss has gone for that conference.
ELEVATE THE EXCITEMENT: It make fun big plus big. Laugh loud plus loud. Pal will greet hand. Tell you praise. Say top day of life …. We’re talking about the Poetry for Neanderthals expansion pack! (And we know we’d get bopped a few times there. We live dangerously) The More Cards Box 1 adds 2,000 new words and phrases. Think you can do better than our Neanderthal brains? We’ve also included 20 blank cards that give you the power to personalize the game.
WELCOME TO THE FAMILY: Poetry for Neanderthals is created by the same guys that gave you Exploding Kittens - an idea first launched on Kickstarter. We aimed to raise $10K. We ended up with $8.7M in 30 days from 219,000 backers. Close to a decade later, Exploding Kittens is still the #1 most-backed project in Kickstarter history. We’ve since launched the likes of Throw Throw Burrito, Really Loud Librarians, and more game-night-boosting goodness. Collect them all and brace yourself for epic fun!

Title: Love this game!
Review: This game is fun for everyone! It makes you reframe how you think and everyone will be laughing and having a good time while you're playing!Well made, very portable, and I think it's easy enough that you don't have to be super intellectual to play! In fact, if you have a limited vocabulary you might have an advantage over the lawyers in the room. ðWould recommend again and again, and I'll continue buying it as a gift for friends!

Title: ME LIKE THIS GAME
Review: Such a fun game! So basically you revert to caveman speak for this one. So nothing over one syllable. If you mess up and say a two syllable word, the game provides you with an inflatable club to hit the person/caveman who messed up. It's a blast to play with friends and pretty much good for any age if they have a good vocabulary because you have to think a little for this one. GET THIS GAME but realize that it's not great for the littler ones.

Title: Hilarious & Easy to Pick Up!
Review: This game is an absolute blast! My friends and I, all adults, found it surprisingly challenging! Communicating with only one-syllable words leads to hilarious slip-ups and plenty of laughs, especially when you get whacked with the inflatable stick.Unlike many board games that require you to play teacher while half the group zones out, this game is refreshingly simple. No one has to sit through long-winded explanations or repeatedly ask, "Wait, how does this work again?" Instead, you can jump right into the fun, with a quick video tutorial available if needed. Plus, it's compact enough to fit into my carry-on luggage, making it perfect for trips.I HIGHLY recommend it for any game night!

Title: So much fun!
Review: This game is hilarious; however, our kids (ages 4-14) did struggle with it. Might be better suited to an older age group. Either way, it was a great buy and we enjoy it a lot. Itâs fast paced, easy to learn, no complicated rules, portable, and fun.

Title: Fun game
Review: We were taught this game by my in-laws and had fun with it. But, we needed to see how the grands would take to it. The older ones (11 and 13) did pretty good. The nine-year-old took the role of the Oops bonker and wanted to play. She will do better in a few years. The six-year-old wants to be included but doesn't read or understand enough to be a real player. Still, the eight of us had a good time. That experience encouraged me enough that I will now get the expansion pack to have a larger bank of words/phrases.This game is fun but challenging in two ways. One is obvious--you can't use multi-syllable words in clues. I still get tripped up by that. The other is in thinking broadly in terms of what words can mean. The younger players, in particular, had a hard time thinking beyond the specific image they had for a particular word. For example, our word was CASTLE. The 13-year-old trying to describe it had too limited a vocabulary to convey it to others. For example, he didn't think to describe it as a house or building (which he couldn't have said in any case). A facility to think laterally and use words you know to give clues is important. (My wife is a savant at this. Her team always won.)We don't recommend using the sand timer that comes in the box. Use your phone to make a more predictable timer that includes a noisy alarm. We also didn't stick to a 90-second limit. When we were taught the game, we used a three-minute timer. That was TOO LONG, as we used up too many words. Teaching the game to the kids, we used a two-minute timer. As we get used to it, we may lower that to the recommended 90-second timer. It is a fun game that we will enjoy for some time to come. Recommended.

Review: A very simple yet super fun game. It is family friendly, and the kids particularly enjoy using the inflatable club to dish out the retribution when you misspeak! I've also played with a group of adults and it is just as fun. There's a good number of cards to give the game a lifespan, so you won't get bored after one game!
