Fan favorite character Kenji Kishimoto narrates this gripping companion novella to Tahereh Mafi’s New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, set during the explosive events in Restore Me!

Juliette is still reeling from Warner's betrayal, and Kenji is trying to balance his friendship with her with his responsibilities as a leader of the resistance against the Reestablishment. Things get even more interesting when an unexpected person from Omega Point’s past surfaces.

The ending of Restore Me left readers gasping, and this novella full of Kenji’s signature sass and big heart is the perfect story to tide fans over until Defy Me, the shocking fifth book in the Shatter Me series.

Title: Loved being in Kenji’s head!!!!!
Review: I LOVED LOVED LOVED being on Kenji’s head!!!!! Reading this novella in his voice was even better than I expected!!! He is definitely one of my favorite characters!!! After Warner & Juliette, of course!!!In this novella we see a lot of what happened in book 4, but through Kenji’s eyes. So a different view, which is VERY cool and a unique perspective of some important scenes we want to remember going into book 5.Also Kenji and Nazeera get closer. Which I TOTALLY LOVE. I don’t know if I would have thought ANYONE would have been good enough for Kenji!!! But leave it up to Tahereh to write the perfect girl for him. Nazeera is SO AWESOME!!!!!This little novella was definitely a pleasure to read, and I’d highly suggest you NOT skip it!!!!

Title: Shadow me
Review: “I’m lonely but I’m not alone.”Oh, Kenji, I am glad you got your own short, but I had much higher expectations for you. In this novella that takes place at the end of Book 4, after Warner’s meltdown and Juliette’s hair moment, we follow the enigmatic Kenji—one of the more likable characters in the Shatter Me series. Kenji is always the fun-loving one, the one that pulls Juliette out of her funks and puts everyone in their places. We get a small look into what makes him tick and he’s not as happy-go-lucky as he appears. Much like our other main characters, we follow this love-struck character through some journey and it becomes more about his ideals of romance than the chaos around him. I think it is a fun interaction with Kenji, but I had higher hopes to dig a little deeper into him. It is always nice to see a scene from a different perspective.

Title: Shattered plot
Review: I don’t know anymore. The last whole book (Restore Me) seemed unnecessary but this one feels like it has better details of the same thing. Wholly it could have just been one chapter combined with the last two books together… I don’t really understand why there’s so much repetition going on, it feels, dare I say—like the plot is ‘shattered.’Reason for three stars where I could have given one—I knew Kenji’s perspective would be good… did not disappoint.

Title: what just happened?!
Review: I LOVE Kenjies book! He’s hilarious and one of my favorite characters for sure. Warner and Kenji are slowly starting to build a friendship I don’t think either are aware of yet and Kenji may finally get a love interest?! I hope so he deserves it. Even though I know how this book was going to end there was still a twist ending! This series has me absolutely hooked.

Title: Brilliant novella
Review: Kenji’s POV... need I say more? I loved the insight into Kenji’s world almost as much as I loved Warner’s. I could stay there all day. Brilliant addition to the story and makes me even more excited for the next one.

Title: I've never simped so hard for a secondary character!
Review: Oh Kenji. You have a heart of gold that is hurting but you won't let no one see it. I need a spin off of just Kenji. More than just two short novellas. I really appreciate hearing "a completely objective third party observer with absolutely no personal interest in the matter" ('She's The Man'). Kenji was able to provide an outsiders knowledge without being too far from the inner circle. It allows the reader to step back and look at everything and see if there's something we are missing. Like Nazeera? Why is she helping? Is she actually on their side? And what about Castle? I seriously don't trust that guy. Overall I enjoyed this novella! Highly recommend before reading 'Defy Me.'

Title: Good, but I guess I expected something more...
Review: Shadow Me is the short little read that takes place towards the end of Restore Me. This time, Tahereh Mafi lets us get inside the head of Kenji! Kenji has always been a favorite, because, how can you not love him? Lol. He’s so enthusiastic and cares for Juliette, he’s the best non-romantic person you could ask for in a series. This story takes place in the last few chapters of Restore Me and basically gets inside Kenji’s mind that leads up to that chaotic ending! It was a treat being inside his head. I really feel like these novellas do more character building than story building and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. It was Destroy Me that warmed me to Warner, if just a little. The love would come later on! Lol.Through this story we get a little more on the inside to who Kenji is. We’ve known the story he tells Juliette and it’s all true, we just get that added sense of more by being in his head. We also see Nazeera in a different light almost. It’s really hard to say what this novella was about really, as it all took place in a novel we already read. It really just gives more insight to Kenji and perhaps let us in on a new detail or two that didn’t make it to Warner or Juliette before the explosive ending of Restore Me. I’m happy to be able to dive into Defy Me next because the wait for that one would’ve been torturous otherwise! This is mostly a read for Kenji fans as I feel like it didn’t really move the story any further than it already was, but perhaps some minor details that I overlooked in this one will play a larger role in the story to come. It wouldn’t surprise me if that was the case!Overall Rating 4/5 stars

Review: SHADOW ME (Shatter Me Series #4.5)••• ⭐️: 5,0/5••💬: Basically the last chapters from Restore Me through Kenji’s point of view and even though I though nothing really new would appear, I guess I was wrong. Kenji with his amazing heart gives us a sincere and sometimes surprising insight of some scenes (I specially died with him seeing Juliette and Warner interact because we never saw them together from other perspectives and it was BEAUTIFUL). We get to know more of Kenji’s thoughts about everything that happened and some of his insecurities, also his crush on Nazeera. He blacks out a lot during many scenes due to his attention spam being horrible and due to the fact that he doesn’t understand other languages so...it was funny to read those moments and very true to the character.Needless to say that while I read those 64 pages I had many questions, that will probably be answered or developed on Defy Me, but so far it’s only making me nervous. Especially because I’m so conflicted about Castle?! And Juliette’s parents?! Thank God there is less than a month for Defy me and I can have my questions answered (or not *crying*).

Review: This novella was different from the other two in the Shatter Me series because it is told from Kenji’s perspective. The other two were narrated by Warner and Adam. Kenji is one of my favourite characters, so I was so excited to read some of his story.Kenji is a fun character. He usually brings some comic relief to the serious story. He’s Juliette’s best friend, so he is in a very different position from Warner and Adam, who have both been her love interests. However, this story shows a different side to Kenji. He has had a tough life, being orphaned and living on the streets before being taken in by Castle. Though he has been through a lot, he is still there for Juliette when she needs him. These novellas are a great addition to the series. They usually show the same scenes that were in the main novel, but from a different point of view. This gives us a full image of what is happening in the story. The next novella is also from Kenji’s perspective, so I can’t wait to read it!
