Sun Tzu's Art of War, compiled more than two thousand years ago, is a study of the anatomy of organizations in conflict. It is perhaps the most prestigious and influential book of strategy in the world today. Now, this unique volume brings together the essential versions of Sun Tzu's text, along with illuminating commentaries and auxiliary texts written by distinguished strategists. The translations, by the renowned translator Thomas Cleary, have all been published previously in book form, except for The Silver Sparrow Art of War, which is available here for the first time. This comprehensive collection contains:

The Art of War: This edition of Sun Tzu's text includes the classic collection of commentaries by eleven interpreters.

Mastering the Art of War: Consisting of essays by two prominent statesmen-generals of Han dynasty China, Zhuge Liang and Liu Ji, this book develops the strategies of Sun Tzu's classic into a complete handbook of organization and leadership. It draws on episodes from Chinese history to show in concrete terms the proper use of Sun Tzu's principles.

The Lost Art of War: Written more than one hundred years after Sun Tzu's text, by Sun Bin, a linear descendant of Sun Tzu, this classic of political and military strategy is faithful to the principles of The Art of War, while developing their practical application much further.

The Silver Sparrow Art of War: A version of Sun Tzu's Art of War based on a manuscript of the classic text discovered at a Chinese archeological site in China's Shandong Province in 1972, which contains previously unknown fragments.

Title: Great Quality & Great Book
Review: As a person who chose to read this for perspective. I thought it had a lot of perspectives not just Sun Wu though his son, and other military generals which added a lot of value, because it allowed me to interpret what the original author was saying. As well as bringing it to a deeper meaning allowing the reader to understand the original text With different interpretations. Overall it was a phenomenal read and the other books added to the original Art of War provided great insight. I would recommend. This review was a little redundant and chaotic, sorry.

Title: Must read for anyone who wants to succeed
Review: I normally don't give review unless I feel/think it's exceptional. Well this book is..After doing some research and finding that the origin was written roughly 2,500 years ago. It's still required at west point, and some major institutions of learning require its study. I purchased my son and myself copies and have reviewed its commentary content with him numerous times with him.The writings have been applied to many fields, well outside of the military. Much of the text is about how to fight wars without actually having to do battle. Giving tips on how to outsmart one's opponent so that physical battle is not necessary. As such, it has found application as a training guide for many competitive endeavors that do not involve actual combat. There are business books applying its lessons to "office politics" and corporate strategy. Many Japanese companies make the book required reading for their key executives. The book is also popular among Western business management, who have turned to it for inspiration and advice on how to succeed in competitive business situations. It has also been applied to the field of education. The Art of War has been the subject of various law books and legal articles on the trial process, including negotiation tactics and trial strategy. The Art of War has also been applied in the world of sports. NFL coach Bill Belichick is known to have read the book and used its lessons to gain insights in preparing for games

Title: Good edition and the commentaries are helpful.
Review: The commentaries are helpful to better understanding. I prefer the Griffith edition, but this is quite good.Since I have Kindle, iPad and Kindle for PC, I was able to compare this translation with two others, one edition on each device. I prefer the Griffth.

Title: Art of War: Complete Texts and Commentaries
Review: I went to Barnes and Noble, to buy the Art of War book. I saw so many different versions, so I spent about 45 minutes and I found that this was the best version of them all. So much information, easy to understand. So to anyone looking, I highly recommend this book!! I found this book on amazon.com for 50% cheaper than at the book store and holy molely I got it in 2 days super fast shipping!! It is a great book for business, management, law enforcement and military. This book is over 2400 years old and is still one of the best books out today.

Title: Its decent!
Review: Its a pretty good read and easy, but lacks any deeper allegorical meaning to it, which I thought it would have. I see the relation to bussiness and life practices, but that's about it and that even seems a bit hyperbolic and mundane. I believe a decent amount of the meaning was lost in the translations and/or lost pages.

Title: Know yourself, know the book you are buying, and you can read a hundred texts without fear of being bored!
Review: An excellent and classic text whose teachings apply to more than the battlefield. The commentaries are insightful and formatted fairly well around the sections they pertain to, with my personal favorite being Cao Cao for his simplicity and practicality. The taoist philosophy the book is grounded in is integral to the work, and minimal effort yielding maximum response as the end product of wisdom is a solidly practical idea placed in spiritual background concept of universal balance.Read this book! Read it to your children! But most importantly, learn from it.

Review: Dear God, I read another version of this by the same translator/publisher and the fact that this so much longer, with notes and analyses of each lesson by several generals of the day and the compiler himself makes this arguably THE version to get. It was a hard decision as (take a look at any strategy site) there are many, many versions out there and most have unique merits. Some books are so good that one should indulge in two copies. I did, and I don't regret it; the Art of War is my favourite book of all time. Don't believe (certain) hype; it might not help you in the workplace, you may still falter when it comes to conquering the affections of the opposite (or same) sex; if not your spirit then your intellect will be given sustainance from this text.I used to own a version that had Musashi's Book of Five Rings as a " 2 for 1" issue, which I thought was a damned insult to this text as it makes the former's Samurai "how to" manual seem shallow, not that there is any comparison.
