Title: From an almost 40 year old woman and first time user, GET IT!
Review: Talk about an absolute game changer. Wow, and I truly mean wow. Saalt, thank you. I bought the two pack of the regular and small cup. Given my flow is as heavy as it is I was really uncertain as to whether this was going to be my finally switching out from using tampons. I couldn't do it anymore due to the internal physical pain that the cotton fabric was causing me since I was in need of ultra tampons for the majority of my cycle. With that in mind, I was going through an ultra tampon every two-four hours depending on how much my uterus hated me that particular month. I had originally considered going with a different brand with a larger cup size for that reason.Turns out it wasn't even necessary. I've been using the large cup for twenty-four hours now and I haven't had a single issue that any of the negative reviews state. In fact, all I have to say is positive. For starters, I can go for up to about six hours before I feel like I have to empty the cup. It definitely takes some getting used to as far as insertion and removal, but once you get the hang of it, you're golden! I played cards against humanity last night with my nephew and laughed so hard I felt the cup flex a lot like it was breathing and thought I might blow it right out (which had me laughing harder and no, I didn't share that with him lol), but it stayed in place and worked perfectly.Last night was my first night using the cup and while, yes, I should have probably emptied prior to going to bed I didn't and had zero issues. We're talking TEN hours with a flow that typically uses ultra absorbency tampons (granted I was stationary), and no leaks at all. I'm totally in awe of what this product has done for me.I haven't used the small cup yet, but as for the regular you know it's there. It isn't like you insert and forget which is a good thing. Since TSS is an issue you WANT to know it's there. At first, I noticed that I felt like I needed to urinate after it was in, but after a few hours of wear that feeling stopped. The sensation takes a little bit to get used to, but it doesn't have that abrasive friction and constant irritation that I was getting from tampons. Nobody needs that. Why do we still make them?If you're having trouble with insertion and removal there's plenty of helpful videos on YouTube and QandA's on Google. If you're new to the cup or considering, this is worth the investment. I'm twenty-four hours in and refuse to go back to tampons. Saalt makes a wonderful product and I'll be singing their praises to whomever is willing to listen. Do yourself a favor and get it. It's worth the investment and money you'll save as well as cutting back on unnecessary pain associated with tampon use.Update: I switched to the small cup later on in the evening of day two. It was harder to insert the cup and as it turns out, I wasn't bleeding as heavy (keep this in mind for later). Easier time overall using the small cup and also didn't have leaking issues.Emptied each time I went to the bathroom so say... Every four to six hours or so. I was about 60 hours or so into my cycle or about two and a half days when I noticed there wasn't really anything to empty. I figured hey, probably due to gravity and the fact that I had been lying down using a heating pad (again, back problems *cough, cough, old*) and nothing really moved down that way. I even wiped and noticed nothing. Ok, weird. It happens. Roughly another six or more hours later and I use the bathroom again (it's hot as hell, I'm drinking a lot of water, don't judge me) and I reach in, break the suction and go to empty... Nothing. There's nothing at all to empty. Confused now, and assuming what I was hoping to be true had just happened, I went on the internet and discovered a few blerbs on Google and then came across an entire article by Vice. There's an entire website dedicated to cups called Put A Cup In It. I'm stating these things because there's a physical effect to using a cup. Not only did I just have the least painful period of my life, but I also just had the shortest. I just had a period that lasted about two and a half days. This happens to 53% of women that switch to using the cup. It's a completely understudied phenomenon and it's a shame it isn't more widely known for all of woman kind. It takes getting used to, but it's so worth it. If I had known I'd be in less pain every month and bleed for WAY fewer days I would have switch such a long time ago. Make the switch and liberate yourself.

Title: Does the job but IMPOSSIBLE to remove!
Review: Every gal I know who uses menstrual cups loves them. After hearing about it for the umpteenth time, I decided it was time to order one of my own. Saalt comes nicely packaged, with instructions for use and sterilization and a little bag to keep it in. Insertion wasn't horribly difficult. It took a few twists to get it to open, and I leaked a small amount the first hour, but then it was all good. I have very heavy periods, and I had it in for eight hours with no leaks! Color me impressed!After the 8 hours, I get home and go to remove it. It's up there. WAY up there, I can barely feel it. The instructions say not to pull the tab, so I set about trying to pinch the damn cup to get it to un-suction and release. After about ten desperate minutes I'm able to twist it out - no mess, full cup - I dumped, cleaned and replaced. Not so bad, I think, I can do this!I go to a work event, and come back two hours later and try to remove it again. I thought it was up there before, but now it's almost gone. The Saalt cup is latched to my cervix like a starved leech. Try as I might, I cannot get it to come out. I can BARELY reach the cup with my fingers. I pull on the string, no bueno. At this point I'm starting to worry I'll have to go to the ER for the humiliating task of removal.So I call my fiance upstairs and tell him I have a very unfortunate task I need his assistance with. Now we're BOTH trying our damnedest to remove this thing. No luck. He's close to tears. I'm close to tears. The dog is standing nervously in the doorway, unsure how to help. Finally, in a fit of part rage, part distress, I grab the tab and I pull as hard as I can. It feels like it's pulling my entire uterus with it. Right as I'm about to give up hope - POP - it un-suctions and flies out, dropping what can only be described as a bomb of blood all over my bathtub. My fiance almost fell in his hasty retreat from the bathroom. It's been four days, and he still won't look me in the eye.It does what it's supposed to, but at what cost? I'll be experimenting next with the ones that have a hoop for "easy removal."TL;DR - you won't leak for hours, but you'll need the strength of the Hulk or digits like Salad Fingers to remove it. It's also worth mentioning I felt like it, for lack of a better word, "clogged" me up after it got full - maybe my fault for not dumping it throughout the day.EDIT: after a year of use and experimenting with other cups (frankly, this is the only one that does not regularly have leakage), I'm adding the final star. As many others have said, using this cup takes practice. Insertion and removal are both fairly easy (I do sometimes have to fish around, but nothing like before). If you're looking at other cups, just take it from me... this is the best you're gonna get.

Title: If You're On The Fence, BUY THIS!
Review: I rarely leave reviews but this Saalt cup is a game changer. For reference, I'm 33, have 2 kids - bought the regular size, and have never used one of these before. I followed the clear instructions, used a C fold, inserted easily and correctly the first try with no issues. I have worn it all day, emptied and cleaned, then worn it all night with no leakage whatsoever. It is so comfortable I don't even know it's there and I love that I don't have to think or worry about it at all. I haven't tried any of the other cups and I dont need to - I highly recommend you buy this one.

Title: Feels like a birthing experience each time to remove it
Review: Lots of TMI here, leading me to think it doesn’t work for me. In short, it’s just too difficult for me to remove.The first time I used it, the cup pops out when I tried for number 2. I then used it for the afternoon, and removed it right before shower. Took around 5 minutes - although needing to reach way back in I thought I found a trick.Then i wanted to leave the cup in for the night as the feeling of using the cup is actually great. I woke up by a 3:45am alarm that I have no clue I set - but thankfully that’s also a time I have a need to remove the cup. I tried for around 10 minutes; after having a hand (arm!) with blood, I decided to get into the shower store to make it easier, since the trick that worked earlier doesn’t work any more. I came to the realization that it was very difficult to release pressure from the cup when it’s full. And perhaps my cervix is too high, needing to reach all the way to apply pressure doesn’t feel good. It feels like I just gave birth down there.4 star for the product but 1 star for “not for me”

Review: I bought this a month ago during my last menstrual cycle and I won’t lie, was a little apprehensive and scared to try it. A few days ago, Aunt Flo came around and I decided it was time. After reading the care package instructions with images I felt ready and tried it. Success!I started with the smaller cup and on day 2 I moved up to the bigger cup. I found my grove in what fold works best for me and how to take it out comfortably.What I’m most surprise with is how this gives you the warm weather freedom of a pad, or the removal and insertion of a tampon every 3-4hrs. It truly does last up to 12hrs with my heavier flow days. It is 100% leak proof and went to bed in my birthday suit without fear of making a mess in my bed at night. I’m forever using this amazing, and cost effective replacement to pads/tampons. I’ll be sure to tell all my girlfriends.

Review: Well, at first I was (only at first!) disappointed this came with no English instructions so I tossed it into the back of my bathroom drawer and forgot about it. Turns out, there’s plenty of instructions online (go figure) lol.After my dog got into my bathroom garbage and ate two of my tampons (resulting in a vet visit and a stomach pump) I decided to give this a try. Well….am I ever glad I did!Is there a learning curve to this? Yes. Is it difficult? No. Not at all.The benefits far outweigh whatever hesitations you may have about trying a menstrual cup. A few tips and observations for first timers or wary purchasers:1: Practice. Grab some lube or just some water or whatever makes the insertion easier and play around a bit before the big day. It’s important to note that these shouldn’t be inserted like a tampon, AKA pushed up into the vagina. Just fold it, insert it just until it enters and then move it around a bit until the fold opens or “blooms” as I like to say. Pushing it up too far can cause discomfort and cramping and really ladies…do you really want a silicone cup suctioning your cervix all day?I didn’t think so.2: To remove it, don’t yank at the tab (again with the suctioning…we are trying to avoid this). Just use the tab to gently guide you to the base of the cup and squeeze it from the base, it will release and come out with no yanking and subsequently, won’t leave your bathroom or toilet looking like you slaughtered a small animal in it.3: rinse with very warm water before reinserting. This needs no explanation because warm and cozy things helps the pelvic floor relax and we all need that when dealing with potential cramps.A few observations:1. No string is the BEST! Any woman reading this that says their tampon string doesn’t get grossly wet from peeing throughout the day is a liar. That’s right, I said it. A liar!No more wet tampon strings with this product ladies.2: No more string pulling. You ever have that awkward moment where your tampon string isn’t lined up just right and gets tugged on by your underwear or thighs? Again, anyone who says no is either a liar or very lucky. There’s NO TAMPON STRING to get in the way of your day.3: Changing tampons. We’ve all been there…we need to change our tampon and maybe we’re busy. Can’t get a break at work, in the middle of a movie. For whatever reason, it happens and it sucks. With the saalt cup, you needn’t worry about toxic shock syndrome if you miss your scheduled tampon change. This cup can hold a lot of flow and it’s never soaking into a bleached cotton baton only capable of so much liquid. You can confidently wear this for much longer than a tampon without the worry of threatening your delicate vaginal conditions.In the end, I’m really sad I waited as long as I did to try this product. After only a few days on my cycle, I wonder how I ever used tampons and know with absolute certainty that I will never again return to those bleached, wasteful, landfill clogging and expensive one-time-use menstrual products. Nope. Not me. I’m forever converted.If you’re like me, and are used to things being a certain way or wary of change, c’mon over to the better way of having your period. This is by farrrrrrr the best product a woman could ever hope for when considering menstrual management.If for whatever reason the cup you choose doesn’t feel right, or doesn’t work, troubleshoot the problem online ( from which there are hundreds of articles) and find the one that works for you. In the end, I’m 100% certain you will be glad you did, and very happy you made the change.I hope this helped anyone who is a bit nervous or hesitant to try this. You seriously, will NOT regret it

Review: This is my first menstrual cup, I was firmly a pad girl before because the tampons are just so uncomfortable. I find it is comfortable and though it can slide, it doesn't often, and I can wear it at night on my heaviest flows and not be worried about pooling.It is a flexible material and gets good suction when inserted properly. I'm gonna go into dirty detail so scroll away now if you're not interested.Before inserting, boil some water and stick it in there for 5 minutes to sterilise (and wash your hands while youre at it) unless you want nasty infections. Next, sit on the toilet, it's gonna get a bit messy. You need to fold the cup and kinda just shove it up there fingers and all until you can feel the cup unfold and hold on. You can take a finger and feel around the rim to make sure it is fully unfolded and settled. If you can pinch the bottom of the cup and it doesn't pop back out into its original shape it's not inserted correctly. Then have a quick wipe and wash your hands coz your fingers look like you just practiced magic from the dark hold.I can usually go from 8-12 hours before unclogging the drain and giving it a quick wash before reinserted.When taking it out. Sit on the toilet again. Shove your fingers up, find the tail, climb up until you can feel the bottom of the cup, pinch it and gently pull out, if you feel grip, it's still suctioned so pinch it a bit more until the seal is broken. It is a great sensation letting all of that blood out of you and you might as well call your toilet carrie cos it's covered in blood.This bad boy can hold a lot of blood so my fellow heavy flowers can rejoice.Make sure the cup is newly in before going to bed, the seal means that even if you overflow at night, it doesn't trickle out and onto your bedsheets. I've never had spotting in any underwear, it's been in for entire work days and not moved, it takes one or two goes the first time, but is easy to place when you've got the routine.One thing I noticed is that in the later stages when you're not bleeding so much anymore and its more spotty, you kinda loose the lubrication to get it in, so imo it gets a bit more uncomfortable. It's at this point i tend to switch to pads which then don't need changing as often until I finish up completely.So, overall, great when you're starting and in your flow stages. Easy insert and removal. Lasts a whole day, or at least a work shift. No worries at night. Bit uncomfortable towards the end of the period. Comes with a nice bag.
