Title: A little of everything Jackson Browne
Review: From Mauricio Lewak's opening drums on "Still Looking for Something" to Mr. Browne's vocal fade on "A Song for Barcelona," this is the Jackson Browne whom we feel we know, have come to love, and deeply and ungrudgingly respect. It's all there - the shy rocker, the ballards, the storyteller, the Caribbean sway, the foot-tapping, and the long Spanish tribute that I didn't want to end. And, of course, the occasional lump in the throat and a desire to seek him out, put an arm around his shoulders, and say, "I know what you mean. Thanks for writing what I feel." Only a truly gifted artist can take an audience on a rollercoaster ride like that in a mere hour.Sure, some of music sometimes sounds reminiscent of others of his songs (no an artist whose doesn't) and sure, the voice at 72 after a tussle with COVID isn't quite as strong as when he was belting out "Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels" in the 1970's, but, My Goodness! if this album were the first, second, or even the third for almost all of the recording artists since, oh, 1992, it would be praised as a masterful work of art. Such is the height of the bar that Jackson Browne has set for himself. Such are our perhaps unfair expectations of him and the unique greatness that has saturated his songwriting and unmistakable presentations before and after using us, his fans, as his therapists - and he ours.Kudos last, but certainly not least, to the magnificent musicians who made this work happen and to Chavonne Stewart and Althea Mills and Deante Duckett and Leslie Mendelson, whose vocals made it exceptional. And Jeff Young, you weren't half-bad on "Downhill from Everywhere," either! 🙂 Will definitely bring this along in a few weeks as I head out to Winslow, Arizona, to stand on the corner one last time. Peace.

Title: Big Jackson Browne fan, this is an excellent offering.
Review: I have been a big follower of JB since Saturate Before Using. He has always been a first-class songwriter, not only examining the many sides of love and heartache, but offering his take on the challenges of our times. I love his poetry, so often it feels like he knows what is going on in my life or the events that concern me about our world.I am also a big fan of his personal style. His vocals, his musical voicing, his playing. And this new album, Downhill From Everywhere, is exceptional. Often, when an artist puts out a new offering it sometimes takes more than one listen to decide how I feel about each track. But Downhill From Everywhere grabbed me right from the beginning and kept me involved.JB has such an incredible catalog, and this new music is adding to that greatness. It is wonderful that we still get excellence from such a great artist. He must still love what he does! I know I still love what he does, thank you JB.

Title: Worth the Wait
Review: Finally some new Jackson Browne! We were given a taste of new JB music before the pandemic hit ( the song "The Dreamer" and then everything was put on hold as Jackson dealt with his own case of Covid and putting the finishing touches on this album. And what a collection it is. Jackson's albums have always looked inward and outward, balancing politics with matters of the heart. He's accompanied with a top flight band of musicians, and Greg Liesz's guitar work will almost make you forget about David Lindley. His duet with Leslie Mendelson on "A Human Touch" is jaw dropping and for full effect watching the video will implant it in your brain forever. Jackson and the band rock out on "Downhill From Everywhere" and you can feel the Caribbean breeze on "Love is Love".The songwriting is Jackson's best in years, and the production never feels cluttered or overdone. The final track is about his love affair with Barcelona, a city he has come to appreciate for not being anything like LA.For longtime fans of Jackson Browne, this is everything you've always liked about his music. For folks who weren't all that crazy about his last few albums, this is a good record to re-connect with one of our generation's best songwriters.

Title: Jackson Browne's back, and he never disappoints
Review: With his first full album of new material since 2014's solid Standing In The Breach, Jackson Browne's Downhill From Everywhere reaffirms his status as a master songwriter, storyteller, and chronicler of his times. It's a rich and diverse collection of songs, and Browne, who has always wisely written with his own vocal limitations in mind, delivers them all with his usual taste and special care. The musical backing is quietly impressive and in the pocket throughout; this just may be one of the finest bands he's ever worked with. Downhill From Everywhere and A Little Too Soon To Say made an excellent teaser single; other standouts among the set's ten tracks include Still Looking For Something, A Human Touch (NOT the Springsteen song!), and The Dreamer. Definitely recommended.

Title: Good album .
Review: I’m a Jackson Browne fan, so a relatively new album is something to celebrate . I especially like the title track Downhill from Everywhere but my favorite song is Minutes to Downtown . It’s got a great sound , somewhat bluesy . I’m very glad I bought it .

Title: Jackson is still great, after all these years...
Review: I saw him "open" for Linda Ronstadt in Albuquerque in 1974 and have loved him ever since. I have only owned this new album for a full day now, but I like all ten tracks and figure it to get repeat plays while I drive around the Texas city I live in doing "retirement errands." If you are a fan, you need this one also. "Standing in the Breech" from 2014 is also very good. Other than his greatest hits compilations, I think "Lives in the Balance" is my favorite of his from his younger days.
