Title: A World of Goodness Indeed!!
Review: Let me start by saying that this is a beautiful book--not just full of recipes but so much more! It's not just a cookbook but you'll get a good geography and more than a few nice and informative history lessons too! I actually can't wait for my grandbabies to come so that I can READ to them out of this book! They will certainly enjoy the pictures (and the cakes). I have already picked out so many recipes that I can't wait to try. So many countries--so many recipes!! I'm working on one this evening! This book has me EXCITED!! I could hardly put it down! It's a winner and surely a keeper forever!! I had no ideal it would be this good!

Title: Comprehensive cakery!
Review: I have purchased Krystina Castella's cupcake recipe book before. She is a wonderful writer who includes concise and clear baking instruction. The photographs are beautiful and inspiring. A World of Cake is very comprehensive including cake recipes from all over the world. I love the fact that she gives the history behind the recipe. I have made a few of the cakes and they turned out well just like the photos. Great book to add to any baker's collection.

Title: Very thorough cake book
Review: I would recomend this book if you love cakes it contains cake holidays to various kinds of cake recipes. It even contains knowledge on various things we might not consider a cake like doughnuts. However the book employs knowledge of recipes from North america, latin america , India subcontinent and even Southeast asia and more.I would recomend this book to anyone who wants to open a bakery if they are going to buy cakes this book is a must read because you would not only know cake holidays of different cultures but you would be able to have the recipe of the cake for that holiday or know what recipe to look for. So don't have a typical bland bakery if you are in a multicultural place in california or another big city donot be afraid to pick up this book and try to put some of its recipes to use. Then again that is only my opinion.

Title: Book arrived damaged
Review: The book has a bit of damage on the bottom. That being said, I am keeping it, as I will likely use it a great deal while baking, which will take it's toll on the book. I first checked this out from my local library, and decided to purchase as I just loved it. I've baked the German Chocolate Cake and Stollen, both of which were amazing. The German Chocolate Cake was probably one of the best cakes I've ever made; I didn't use the buttercream frosting and it didn't need it. The Stollen was enormous, but wonderful. Can't wait to try something else!

Title: If only all history books could be this good...
Review: We made the German Chocolate cake this weekend- It was a 10 out of 10. The combination of textures between the filling and the frosting were sublime. The histories of the cakes within their cultural origins created "an experience" beyond making a dessert for our dinner party. Everyone left a little more enlightened and insisted on taking a piece home for a family member. My Fiance's mom loved it too. One can only hope all history books are this exciting to read and fun to experience. Bravo Ms. Castella!

Title: Must buy this
Review: I absolutely love this book! It's so much fun, not only because of the great variety of cakes but the tidbits of backstory and cake history. If you love cakes and traveling or exploring new tastes, this is such a great buy!

Title: Somewhat complicated recipes
Review: I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because I found the recipes to be too complicated. I was hoping for a book with more basic, simple recipes, as well as some fancy ones. Unfortunately, there are far more of the latter than the former. The pictures are beautiful and it was interesting to see what types of confections are consumed around the world.

Review: I brought this for a friend for her birthday but I did have a look at it first and it is a really nice book, the biggest problem is is that it is American so alot of the ingredients are hard to find.I have since first writing this review made some cakes from it and have to say despite unconventional ingredients the cakes still turn out really well.
