Title: The ONLY Pregnancy Book You Will Ever Need
Review: This book, like parenthood, changes everything. After having purchased and scoured every pregnancy book out there THIS one is the one I wish I'd had in hand for both of my pregnancies. And this is the book I will gift and reference to every prospective and expectant parents I meet from here on out.I write this after having read this book in its entirity while being house bound mid potty training my 3 yo. It was a refreshing read and Leslie's approach is so real, raw and relatable I found myself reliving so many moments through her eyes and honoring how far I'd come with my own little ones. When you are in the thick of battle with a toddler it is hard to keep perspective most days on whether you are coming or going. This book is such an awesome up to date collection of insights and essential information, I reccomend it for first, second and third timers (and onwards if you continue) as a refresher. There are so many elements I would have read and reread throughout my pregnancies had I had this in hand.I also had the privilege while pregnant of researching these topics and working with the legendary neonatal nurse and birth prep coach Sarah McMoyler founder of The McMoyler Method. Sarah's classes, books and online prep were a godsend if you were lucky enough to get in. Her approach much like Leslie's was always Happy Healthy Baby and Mom no matter how you get there. Sarah passed away far too young just after my son was born 3 yrs ago and I think were she alive today she would love this book and utilize it in her training curriculim. So much of the content in Bumpin cuts through all the BS, removes judgement about whats right, wrong, perfect, etc and just gives you what's essential. It also underscores one of the scariest and most important lessons of pregnancy and parenthood....learning to let go (we can't control everything) and trusting our instinct. Now I just hope Leslie will write a followup to this called Thumpin: Surving and Thriving the Toddler Years because that is a whole other rollercoaster I've yet to see anyone properly prepare parents for and that help I could use right now! Grateful though for this work, it is so so important for parents to be to feel empowered and informed, not overwhelmed by the sea of information and the tyranny of Dr. Google.

Title: My girlfriend got pregnant unexpectedly and this book was a lifesaver for me, and her.
Review: So I bought this book when my girlfriend and I had an unexpected pregnancy early on in our relationship (About 4 weeks in). Obviously at this time we were both terrified seeing as though we were completely unprepared for this.Simply put, this book took us from zero knowledge to feeling completely informed about what to expect. It was interesting because we found out about it in week 4 (2 months after we started dating) and was basically freaking out for a while. We were already in week 6 by the time we got the book and started reading and it very accurately helped explain what had been happening and what is to come. We are in week 10 now and feeling confident about the future and the path forward. For me, as a partner to my pregnant girlfriend, it helped me understand what was going on inside her both physically, mentally, and emotionally. Obviously getting pregnant this early in a relationship has incredible challenges. We didn’t even live in the same city. It helped stabilize our relationship and has literally made us stronger than ever before.Kudos to this book because without it I don’t believe we would be in the stable, healthy place we are today. Whether planned or unplanned, pregnancy can be a daunting thing because as everyone has told us, “nothing can prepare you for it”.This book truly familiarized us with the pregnancy process in a fun and easy to understand way.

Title: Good book, but I didn't feel like I learned much?
Review: I feel kinda bad giving this book 3 stars. But honestly as a first time mom with like zero baby experience, (I don't have any baby cousins, no family lives by me, none of my friends have gotten pregnant..) I just don't feel like this book did much for me. And towards the end I was really dragging myself to finish it.I'm not sure why that was. It's probably me, I was probably just look for something a little different.I didn't really need a basics checklist of appointments to make-im military and unfortunately (or fortunately depending how you look at it?) I am completely covered full ride by insurance, but I have little to no say in what appointments happen when, whether I can get a doula...etc.I guess I was looking for a book on what to eat and avoid, what my body changes may look like, what's normal-er to experience daily, more debates on breast feeding versus not, where to put a baby crib etc... I have no experience. It should have been relatively easy to make me feel like I learned some new information, or useful insights, or at least some differing options/opinions to weigh. Instead, if I'm being honest, the only part of the book I found remotely informative was the post partum section on breast feeding babies, And her oersonal experiences in italics were what I wound up living for in the book.Like I said, I'm probably just not the target audience at the end of the day, despite having assumed I would be.

Review: Very useful information shared by the author in this book. I have been reading this during my first pregnancy and it is one of the pregnancy reads I have enjoyed the most and have been looking forward to the next chapters. The insights shared by the author are complimentary but not a repetition of what I already discuss with my provider. Recommended.

Review: I have a few pregnancy books but this is my favourite by far, for several reasons. Not only does it cover so much more than other books, but it's really easy to dip in and out of according to what you're looking for at a particular stage of the pregnancy process. I found it especially helpful that Bumpin' covers the trimesters before and after the actual gestational period - the author calls these trimester 0-5 instead of just looking at the traditional 3. I also thought that despite the generally light and fun tone of the book, Leslie does an outstanding job of discussing sensitive topics such as infertility, baby loss and postpartum depression. An easy, data-driven read which is, as it says, a modern guide to pregnancy. It feels very much more up to date and relevant than other popular pregnancy books which I own. Highly recommended!

Review: I really enjoy reading this book. As a first time mom, it gives me the idea of how the whole journey looks like and whom I should contact to have more support. The book is not about "what should you do in this trimester", it's more about preparation for what's next, which is the exact reason why every mother-to-be should have this book as soon as they can. While I love the book (and don't think I should purchase another one), I still wish it would have information of tools or advices to help pregnant women reduce morning sickness or late night backpain during their pregnancy. Leslie did mention somewhere in the book about having extra pillows to support your back at night, but I feel like I would love to have more information that could help pregnancy sound more enjoyable and excited.

Review: The author seems to be under the mistaken assumption that acupuncture has a basis in science, which detracts significantly from claims that the book was fact-checked by an OB-GYN. If you believe that medicine should be based on how you feel about the effectiveness of a particular discipline and not science, consider this a 5-star review.
