Title: Pretty Astonishing
Review: This was just a good book on trivia. Although there were a few editing mistakes, they didn't take away from the overall enjoyment of this book. If you like Uncle's book I think you will like this one.

Title: Funny and Thought-Provoking
Review: I thought Astonishing Bathroom Reader was entertaining and often quite funny. Plus its subject matter and approach are unique and even thought provoking. It starts off with a serious stab at explaining how the universe works—-featuring trivia and data about everything from the big bang theory and subatomic particles to the ice ages. (How many trivia books would even attempt something like this?)After that it has lengthy sections of trivia about biology and medicine; history, popular culture; sports; and an extraordinarily fun collection of trivia about popular legends and fantasy—which includes fantastic monsters and comic books.Indeed, major kudos for all the comic book references that are sprinkled throughout the book. As a comics nerd, I eat that sort of thing up.And, in terms of witty, has there ever been a better bit of self-deprecating humor in a trivia book than this: “You will forget 80 % of what you manage to learn from this book today.”I suspect the above applies to all trivia books, but this is probably the only one that’d have the wit and moxie to admit it.Unfortunately the book isn’t perfect. I downgraded it one star because:—Frankly, I wasn’t that interested in the opening chapter of trivia about how the universe works. (I’m sure many people will enjoy it. However, I’m just not one of them.) I thought the book was loads of fun, however, in most of the following sections.—-This book would benefit from a better use of punctuation—commas are used too often as replacements for periods. As a result, the book has far too many run-on sentences. And—-if it was up to me—I’d break down some of the longer and more complicated entries into more paragraphs. (But then I’m a former reporter. I’m used to breaking things into smaller bits to make them easier to read.)—-Finally, I wish there was a more complete table of contents so you could find individual entries easier if you want to read them again. All that said, it’s a fine book. And—if it’s true that I’m going to forget 80 percent of it—then I’ll have plenty of fun reading it again later!

Title: A little dull but lots of trivia.
Review: It's just a lot of lists of categorized trivia, not a lot of fun stories like another bathroom reader I prefer. There were a noticeable number of typos and grammatical errors throughout the book. They included the birth & death year of every, single, person, mentioned in the book which was usually unnecessary and a little annoying.

Review: Interesting in parts, dull and pointless in others, and occasionally simply wrong, the biggest problem is the obvious complete lack of a competent copy editor or proof reader.
