If you’re planning on falling in love...
When it comes to the confident, charismatic Caleb Parker, Sadie Lane feels the spark - the kind that comes from rubbing each other the wrong way. She’s yoga pants, he’s a suit. She’s a tattoo artist, he’s a straitlaced mogul. But after they accidentally co-rescue an abandoned dog from a storm, Sadie sees a vulnerable side to the seemingly invincible hottie.
...you’d better be sure...
Caleb doesn’t do emotions. Growing up the underdog, he’s learned the hard way to build up an impenetrable wall. Perfect for business. Disastrous for relationships. He’s never worried about it before - not until he finally gets behind Sadie’s armor and begins to fall.
...someone is there to catch you.
Both guarded and vulnerable, Sadie and Caleb are complete opposites. Or are they? Shocked at their undeniable connection, can they ever admit to wanting more? That all depends on what they’re each willing to risk.

Title: Playing for Keeps definitely Jill Shalvis best ever.
Review: Wow Jill Shalvis really is phenomenal. Jill Shalvis always captivated her readers. She really has all the elements that make a great author. She always writes a great and relatable story. Jill Shalvis writes stories that her readers can easily follow along with. Her Heartbreaker Bay series is beyond phenomenal. In Playing for Keeps we get Sadie Lane and Caleb Parker's story. Sadie is a tattoo artist and works two jobs. Sadie is a bit stubborn.Caleb is a self made man who wears suits(thus the nickname Sadie gives him"suits") Caleb knows hard work. Caleb is very charismatic and sexy.Lollipop is a rescue dog with only three legs and in need of love. Very sweet and so adorable. Will definitely melt your heart. When Sadie and Caleb agree to co-parent a beautiful three legged dog, Lollipop, things slowly heat up. Everything Sadie thought Caleb stood for and was turns out to be completely wrong. The chemistry between Caleb and Sadie is undeniable. As Caleb and Sadie take care of Lollipop they really begin to let each other in. On the outside they both seem total opposites but once you peel back the layers they soon discover they have alot more in common than they thought.Playing for Keeps is truly one of the best books ever. It is a beautifully written story. Definitely a must read. Jill Shalvis captures the essentials of the human heart and soul. Caleb and Sadie as well as the secondary characters catch your attention and keeps it throughout the entire story. I definitely found myself laughing, crying and having heartswooning moments. I just adore Lollipop. My heart is all for Lollipop. All the characters in Playing for Keeps are very well written and developed. Caleb, Sadie and Lollipop just leapt straight from the pages and into my heart and soul. Jill Shalvis mesmerized me completely. Playing for Keeps left me feeling better than I felt before reading it. I could not put this book down. I found myself becoming emotionally invested in Caleb, Sadie and Lollipop's story. My heart just melted for Lollipop. Reading Playing for Keeps was a pleasure. Jill Shalvis kept my attention from page one through the end. I was sad to see this story end. You able to put it down. Title: Loving Lollipop!
Review: 3.5This is, as always, is a very enjoyable, romantic, funny read, with the most adorable dog in the world. The banter is sharp, and the characters enjoyable, but I found myself not terribly crazy about Sadie.Sadie Lane is a tattoo/make up artist living a life always feeling âsecond best.â Her parents always favored her sister who they thought was perfect, and expected Sadie to never match up. So she didnât.Caleb Parker is a tech genius with lots of money. Sadie calls him âsuits.âThere was a strange sizzle between them, but until a very cold, rainy night when they rescue a three legged ugly/adorable dog they realize it is was based on mutual attraction. The dog is Lollipop, and she made the story for me. Caleb found Sadie âspirited and a little wild, but could never take his eyes off her.âSadie, thanks to her upbringing has a lot of issues, most of all believing she doesnât need a man. Caleb breaking down those walls is frightening to her. But as she gets to know him, she realizes all the energy he puts into taking care of people and family. Sheâs falling for him, but canât get past her inner doubts. There is a lot going on in this story, I think my favorite moment is when Caleb is trying to rescue the dog, believing he is allergic. It was a laugh out loud moment for me.Sadie was not my favorite character, but overall Playing for Keeps was another Jill Shalvis favorite.Thank you to Edelweiss and the publisher for allowing me to read this book.Pat Fordyce

Title: He wasnât just a billionaire in a suit
Review: When it comes to love, I have been known to be a little insecure at times. For years I saw my hubby with rose-coloured glasses. To me, heâs handsome, smart, caring and sweet. I thought every woman in the world would want him for their own. Weâre so different, he is sporty and doesnât read (WEIRD!!) and survives with little to no sleep. Finally, after 21 years of marriage, the rose-coloured glasses have a few smudges on them. Heâs still bloody awesome but heâs not perfect. Seeing Sadie fight her insecurities and believe in Calebâs love was something I could relate to. Her rose-coloured glasses needed a few smudges to see him clearlyâ¦suit and all.It did not surprise me that Sadie questioned Calebâs attraction. Sadie appears a little rough around the edges, is stubborn and a wee bit prickly. Caleb on the other hand, heâs a suit-wearing hottie with a successful empire and plenty of money in the bank. So very different but thereâs this underlying buzz that neither can deny. Sadieâs hesitant to take their attraction too seriously as sheâs not willing to put her heart on the line. Only thing isâ¦Calebâs Playing for Keepsâ¦I absolutely LOVED Caleb. After reading the little snippet at the end of Hot Winter Nights I predicted that Caleb was going to be the book-boyfriend for me. My heart melted at his thoughtfulness. I was swooning when we had his POV and I got to see him convince Sadie that her prickly barbs would not deter him. I loved it when he developed his own prickly barbs when it came time to deal with Sadieâs family. To be honest, I would have loved to see a few more interactions with Caleb and Sadieâs mum. I wanted to see him put on his Knight-In-Shining-Armour costume to fight the wicked witch. OK, she wasnât that bad, but geez, she definitely rubbed me the wrong way.I wouldnât say Lollipop stole the show, but she came pretty darn close. Who wouldnât fall in love with a three-legged puppy thatâs had a rough trot up until the minute Caleb Parker found her on a cold and rainy night? Her devotion to her knew co-owners is so cute and I loved that with a little whining, she had them both giving into her. I loved the hand-holding to calm her fears in the car and the sitting on their feet to gain their attention. So cute!!Sadie and Caleb were interesting, and I found them refreshingly real. I understood Sadie and Calebâs tolerance of family interference because I could completely relate. What seems intrusive and meddling was done out of love for Sadie and Caleb. Sadieâs family couldnât understand her, but constantly worried for her health and well being. Calebâs family have been his carers, providers and protectors since the time he was a sickly kid. Even with all his success, heâs still their little brother.I absolutely loved Playing for Keeps. It was an emotional story that dealt with two characters that faced challenges in their youth. Caleb has proven himself by becoming successful and repaying his family for all their sacrifice, love and support. Sadie, while still in the process of becoming successful, is finally coming to accept and love herself, scars and all.In true Jill Shalvis fashion, she drags all of my emotions to the surface. I was sniffling like crazy towards the end of the story and then smiling like a loon by the end. While reading I couldnât turn the pages fast enough but when it was finished, I was wishing Iâd taken my time. Her books are never long enough. A new snippet (The Lemon Sisters, Wildstone Series) at the end has given me something to look forward to. Although, I was kind of hoping that it was going to be Ivy, from the Taco Truckâs turn. Fingers crossed, it may still happen. If you havenât tried a Jill Shalvis yetâ¦DO IT!!

Review: The last thing Sadie expects to be doing when she helps rescue a dog is to be co adopting her with kind and caring Caleb, the guy she has tried to ignore an attraction to for a whole year. Sadie has always been careful about letting people get to know the real her. Judging Caleb by his appearance, will she allow the real him to break through her defences, and give him a chance to prove that he can take care of the one thing she holds most dear, her heart? Navigating their way through doggy parenting was funny, but this was also a tender heart warming story of learning to trust in love.

Review: Gah, I just love getting back to Heartbreaker Bay! I just adore every single thing about the people in this series. This is Caleb (woohoo) and Sadie's story, and it was fun, flirty and emotional. I think all of us can connect a little bit with Sadie, and I can tell you now, I just wanted to b!tchslap some of the people in her life for things!I love their new addition to their lives, and boy did it make me want to get another dog! Though I don't miss the drool and the poop pickups!I couldn't help but fall for Caleb right from the start, and I need one of my own!I loved getting bits and bobs of the the crew from Heartbreaker Bay, and little snips of where their lives are at. I think I need to move to San Fran and become their friends.I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my Kindle across the room (or at somebody's head!)I can't wait to see what Ms Shalvis brings us next.
