Title: Another winner!
Review: I have enjoyed every book in this series, and am still amazed that I continue to root for an assassin...This book follows both Victor and a character from a previous book - whom he targeted and then saved - as they try to evade separate teams out to exact their revenge. Both stories are full of excitement and tension - will either be able to escape the traps that are tightening around them? As their work starts to overlap, Victor is given yet another opportunity to let someone into his life so he does not need to go it alone. But, can he ever trust anyone? And, what will he do when it becomes apparent that their goals may not ultimately be the same?I find Tom Woods' writing utterly engaging, and I love going on the fast paced, thrilling ride of watching Victor navigate new challenges, contracts, and choices. Woods does an incredible job of making you care what happens to Victor, despite the ease with which this assassin kills those that are either assigned to him via contracts or those who get in his way. It is fascinating to read about his ever present awareness of his surroundings and his occasional slips. This is another winning novel in an excellent series.

Title: Victor continues to deliver!
Review: Tom Wood's 7th Victor the assassin series delivers another solid entry to the series. Not his best one, but better than some others in the series.I really enjoyed this one because Doctor's female rival assassin is also a colorful, interesting character. My only complaint would be the lack of injuries Victor should have received by battling professionals like himself. I really wished author Wood would finally pen a novel in which Victor not only gets into fire straits, but gets truly messed up...and get back to the first original couple of books, where Victor utilizes major firepower than just a pistol or a kinfe. Mix it up more, Mr. Wood!

Title: Another Great Chapter in Victor's Story
Review: Victor the assassin has made other similar books more difficult to enjoy. Why? Author Tom Wood makes his anonymous killer character consistently aware at all times. Other stories rely on their protagonists falling victim to bad luck, or a moment of inattention. For Victor, who believes in making his own luck (actually, I'm quite sure he doesn't subscribe to the concept), ex machina plot twists are simply not believable given how alert he is to EVERYTHING around him at all times (thus, when it happens in other stories, though widely accepted by readers as simple plot driving devices, I lose interest and become disappointed with the bar set by Tom Wood).I recommend reading The Killer and The Darkest Day before this book. Though it can be read as a stand alone story, the full context of the plot is better understood with those stories under your belt.As is my habit, I split my consumption of the book between reading then Kindle version and listening to Rob Shapiro's reading of it from the Audible version. I can't read the Victor stories without Shapiro's smooth reading of Victor's character narrating in my mind.I wonder if Tom Wood has Victor's origin story created in his mind. As much as I would be tempted to read a prequel, I think it would destroy the attraction and mystery of Victor, much like when two characters with strong sexual tension in a long running TV series finally come together. It typically disappoints and disenchants. That said, I'm dying to learn more about Victor, and hope Wood trickles something bits and bobs in future books.

Title: 7th Victor the Assassin book, just as good as the others
Review: This one was very entertaining. Tom Woodâs writing style is perfect for me. I didnât love the outcome between Victor and Raven, but thatâs how these books go: the story isnât always what youâd expect, and there are no fairy tale endings. I do like how the author works in the storyline of characters from past books, and reveals what has become of them since being left in Victorâs wake. He delves leave a trail of destruction behind him. Very fun series. Looking forward to the next one.

Title: Not the best Victor, but still ok.
Review: 4 Stars. But barely. This is the 'worst' Victor novel so far. I sincerely hope Tom Wood is not going down the same lane as Lee Child went with his Reacher novels. It has to be said: Tom Wood is an excellent writer. The action and characters are described very well. What I did not like at this story, however, was that actually there really wasn't a lot of story at all. A former adversary is hunting for Victor (what's new?) and he asks Raven to come to the rescue. That's about it. Raven herself has her own problems that go parallel but also interfere with Victor's. The big let down in the story for me was the way Raven and Victor handle their conflicting interests in the end. Very immature (or unintelligent) and hard to believe. No spoilers here, but that part of the story really has big holes and is, in fact, a bit of an insult to the reader's intelligence.Bottom line: great action scenes and character development. But very thin story line, with holes you could drive a truck through. It was nice to see Raven again, though.Up to the next one. Mr. Wood, we know you can do better! Don't worry, I will still pre-order it.

Title: Totally enthralling.
Review: Victor is an enigma. As an assassin, keeping himself free from human entanglements is his only way to keep himself safe. This is a novel that takes you into the inner workings of intelligence services. Victor is being hunted by Alvarez of the CIA who wants Victor to pay for his sins. But Victor and Raven are also being muted by the mysterious coop, and Victor is attempting to track the hidden individual Phoenix, who issue the contract on his life. What follows is a story of intrigue, violence, and death. This is a unique series. Victor's life is bleak, but it is what it is. He take little joy in much of life, and human interaction is of limited value to him, but to hunt, to overcome, to be victorious is the ultimate thrill to him. I enjoy this series very much, and Victor is unlike anyone I have encountered. Highly recommended.

Review: Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Random House for providing me an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.Victor is the ultimate assassin. An angel of death without mercy or conscience. But his past dealings with the CIA not only earned him a shoot-on-sight order, but also made him a marked man in his chosen profession. And to top it all off, a femme fatale he once saved is about to re-enter his life with a bang. And she has powerful enemies of her ownâ¦From the get go I was especially intrigued by this volume of the Victor series, since it promised to bring back a lot of familiar faces and tie up loose threads from previous books. I practically signed up to Netgalley just for the slim chance of getting my hands on this book a couple of months early! It worked and at the end, THE FINAL HOUR was everything I hoped it to be⦠But also so much more! (It goes without saying that I pre-ordered the final version of the book here on Amazon nonetheless!)There has always been an odd sense of elegance, watching Victor meticulously planning his actions and then see him carrying them out with deadly precision. Tom Woodâs writing not only transports the reader directly into the scene â be it the Majesty of Rome or the cold streets of Helsinki â it also immerses them in Victorâs mind, depicting his sometimes unsavoury yet always fascinating thought process in awe-striking detail.Another known quality of Mr. Wood, is his infallible sense for creating memorable, imaginative action-scenes, which will let your heart pump faster and probably make the Helmer of the Bourne Movies green with envy! Also of note are the returns of some fan-favourite characters. The enigmatic female assassin, going by the codename Raven and the ruthless but quite likable CIA heavyweight Roland Procter are just two prominent members of the impressive ensemble of old and new characters, featured in THE FINAL HOUR!But what lets this book rise not only about its predecessors but quite possibly the entire competition of 2017, is the deftness of its plotting! Tom wood effortlessly weaves multiple different plot threads into an ever twisting and utterly compelling narrative, which not only puts a nice bow across past events but also sets the stage for many more books to come. Which is just as well, as I have the inkling that Victor â and his creator â are just getting started!
