Title: It sews through thick layers
Review: Watch the video I posted. Earlier this year I bought another brand of sewing machine. I was quite happy with it until I tried for hours to sew thick neoprene. I thought there was a malfunction. Turns out the machine simply wasn't made to sew through thick fabric. I found this one for such a good price. It is very straightforward. It's easy to thread and change settings. I like the automatic needle threader, the bobbin winder and overall the sturdiness this machine offers. I wish I had gotten this one first. It was half the price of my other one. One more thing, You have to be careful to choose the right bobbin type. Some look the same but I read you could ruin your machine using the wrong size. Make sure it's an SA156 bobbin.

Title: Good value for everyday sewing
Review: I bought the Brother ST371HD in March 2022, after looking at high-end and low-end machines and everything in between. Iâve always used Singer machines - my most recent, bought in the early â90s, was a basic, non-computerized model that worked pretty well. It was loud, though, and starting to show its age. So, after not finding any Singer models that I liked, and deciding that I didnât need an embroidery or quilting machine, I found this Brother model. It has a lot of features that I like - automatic needle threader (a struggle at first, but I finally figured it out), clear bobbin cover, horizontal spool holder, automatic buttonholer, free arm and just enough fancy stitches. Itâs much quieter than any Singer Iâve owned. It sews a very neat seam. Iâve sewn through several layers of fabric with no problem. The threading was a little fiddly at first, but the directions are on the machine, which helped. And, the controls are slightly different from what Iâm used to, but thatâll improve with time.I gave this machine 4 stars because, after I made some buttonholes, it would only sew in reverse. A couple of YouTube videos later, I was able to fix that by moving the hand wheel back and forth several times. The problem may have happened because I forgot to put a lever back in place after making the buttonholes - the gearing got out of whack somehow. It does not appreciate cheap thread - I have several spools of department store thread, and the Brother said ânopeâ to those.Iâve had no further issues with the machine and can recommend it for anyone who wants a sturdy machine with some modern updates for sewing clothing, housewares and the like.

Title: Powerful machine! 6 layers of vinyl!
Review: I've had this for a few months and I love it. It goes through 6 layers of vinyl like it was butter! There was enough height for thicker fabric layers as well. It does zippers like a dream with a zipper foot. I bought this for making bags and purses and it has not disappointed. I would highly recommend this for beginning bag makers. Great entry level machine for heavy duty sewing. The price is affordable and it is a beast! Easy to thread, has just the right height, and sews through layers with power and consistency. No skipped stitches!

Title: High Expectations
Review: I canât fully review the mechanics of the Brother ST371HD sewing machine because I received it yesterday. After I use the machine for a while, I will add to my review. The reason Iâm doing a review before using the machine is to express my amazement regarding the FAST delivery of the sewing machine. I ordered the sewing machine on a Wednesday & received it early morning on the following Friday! (yesterday). I live in a rural area & I allow a week or more for my âmanyâ amazon deliveries. This delivery was a pleasant surprise. Good Job UPS & Good Job Brother Sewing Machine Seller!I do want to say that I did research before purchasing this sewing machine. This is my 2nd Brother Sewing Machine. I purchased my first Brother Sewing Machine in 1975. I used it until it broke in 2013. I loved that machine! It was dependable & easy to use. I donât sew a lot but I sew enough crafty & mending projects to warrant owning a sewing machine. My mother & my grandmother were Great seamstress. They made their own clothes plus mine & my siblings. I learned to sew from them, mainly from my grandmother. One thing I do want to say is that in the QUESTIONS area for this sewing machine description, several people ask which compatible sewing machine case to buy. Brother answers with a ârecommendedâ case. When comparing the size of the Brother sewing machine with the ârecommendedâ case, the width of the Brother Sewing Machine is more than the width of the ârecommendedâ case. I asked a QUESTION regarding the width discrepancy & received an answer from Brother saying there is no ârecommendedâ case for this particular Brother model. I did find & ordered a Sewing Machine Case with larger measurements than the Sewing Machine so I hope that case works for my lifetime with my new Brother Sewing Machine. Also when doing research, I found a similar but slightly better Brother Sewing Machine. However, the other Brother Model was not available or was out of stock at all the bigger well known shopping chains, to include Amazon. That Brother Sewing Machine model is ST531HD. Itâs a few dollars more & has a few more features than my Brother ST371HD (ST = Strong & Tough, 37 stitches, & HD = Heavy Duty).Of note is that when my almost 40-year-old 1975 Brother Sewing Machine broke, I replaced it with a comparable Singer Sewing Machine. I think it was Singerâs Anniversary Model for that year? After several attempts at trying to learn how to use it, I gave up because it was too complicated for me. Itâs brand new sitting in a closet for the last 7 years. After I use my Brother sewing machine, I will update my review.

Title: Great little machine
Review: I bought this to replace my 1970s Kenmore, and Iâm quite pleased with it. Itâs not as heavy or sturdy, but it seems to sew just about anything and easily adjusts to my different demands. I sew and repair clothing, nothing too elaborate, and this machine is up to the task. The placement for upper and lower threading is not intuitive, so Iâve had to look up the instructions each time.

Review: Very good for heavy duty items. Such as jeans (denim) and gabardine. I have been using it for retouching my pants and some tops. I am using it to saw some materials but it have to be cotton, polyester and hard satin. I can not saw well a nylon material as well as it saw the cotton and other fabrics, but it is good and quiet.

Review: We bought it in the middle of Mayafter we used it. The pedal smells like burning plastic.I tried to contact Brother, but there is no email nor any other way I could contact our seller. When I contacted Brother in Switzerland, they asked us to contact our seller (means Brother from Amazon.de)So the only thing I could do is give a one-star review and see if Brother (our seller) can contact us.
