What does off-grid and on-grid mean ?
On-grid simply means solar power equipment (array or solar panel) is connected to the electrical grid, while off-grid refers to systems that are not connected to the grid and therefore store the generated power for later use.
Why is my solar panel under producing ?
Solar panel performance may be hindered for a number of reasons. Most commonly environmental conditions such as indirect sunlight, temperature rise, cloudy sky, and dirt and stain build up on the top glass will cause a reduced power output.
How should I connect solar panels in my electrical circuit (series vs parallel)
Connecting solar panels in series will have the effect of adding up their operating voltage output, while system current output will be the same as that for one panel. While, connecting solar panels in parallel will have a different effect;
How many solar panels do I need ?
To determine solar panel needs, calculate the power load (Watts) and capacity (Watt-hours). Size the battery bank based on minimum capacity, then adjust panel quantity or power input accordingly.
What is the meaning of 12V in the product title,Why is this value different from the voltage of the solar panel?
When you open the product page, you will see a title like "xxx Watt 12 Volt Solar Panel". The "12V" here does not refer to the voltage of this solar panel (VOC or VMP), but to the fact that one xxxW solar panel is suitable for 12V system.

Title: Fantastic, pumps even in the shade.
Review: This is a great quality solar panel. I have had a few other small trickle panels and a cheap flexible plastic one (total waste of money) and I am really impressed with the power and quality of this panel. It is really too strong for a trickle panel, but i find I can put it in the shade and it works fine with less power and it will totally charge up a "dead" car battery in no time (paired with a cheap charge controller, made mobile safe by hot glue gunning wiring points). I bought a panel this strong because I got a great sale price on it. Very worth it. Small enough to be portable and easily moveable and will fit on my dash even and large enough to really kick ass, charge up a lead acid battery and all my 5 volt usb lights and devices. Great for camping. My only problem with this panel on the onset was that it came with Renology MC4 connectors attached and I had trouble deciding whether to buy more of those or rip off the MC4 connector and just convert to 12 volt automotive water proof connector I already had on hand. For my uses, I was better off without the MC4 (a waterproof rating not size rating) I decided, and I finally pried them off and converted to the 12 volt auto connector, but the psychological block really impacted my project.

Title: Huge shout out to Renogy! Tough and outperforms.
Review: At first I was really bummed, footprints all over the box, torn box and the box is clearly marked no step, fragile, etc. I thought for sure the panel was going to be trashed (Thanks UPS, grrr).... I pulled it out and did as thorough examination for physical damage and saw none. Did a quick voltage test with the panel laying against the shop and all seemed ok. Mounted it up on my shed with Z-brackets, rubber washer style hex self drilling fasteners and lay on, solid copper tin-plated grounds to the frame of the panels with 1/4 inch stainless steel button head cap screws (BHCS) and a stainless nut backer with a star washer. I also used a little 120 grit sandpaper and wd40 to make sure the anodization was off on both side of the frame. The Renogy panels DO NOT come with ground hardware, more than likely due to (How the heck do we know how you're going to mount this?) and was not unexpected. I had some 10 ga MC4 connectors and cable that made it into the far side of the shed. Why did I not mount it closer? For easier expansion of course! From their into the shed via a waterproof box, then down to 60A/1000V breaker, then routed the cables out through a waterproof pull box, from there, used schedule 80 to 18" below grade and back up to penetrate the shop. Then onto a 3/4" backboard and into a Victron 100/50 Smart Controller. @ 2:45 PM once the clouds broke for a minute or two I saw 236 watts!!!!! That's through 50'+ of tin plated copper10ga (6mm2) cable and a disconnect! Pretty impressive! Of course I live in Colorado at 5800' +, the sun here is wicked, and It's July first but it in my mind a 200w panel that can be beat to death by UPS and still put out 236W in the early afternoon, is a freakin winner.

Title: Great, inexpensive panels for my RV
Review: Got these to mount on top of my rv. They work really well and look very clean. Pretty shade tolerant too. 800w in parralell still produces a couple hundred watts on cloudy days.

Title: Awesome Solar Panel for Van Life
Review: Purchased this panel to use for my Van. Brackets affix easily to the panel pre-drilled holes. Connections are super simple, and actually pulls over 100W when charging. In full summer sun it pulled close to 140W and that is without any angle toward the sun. Really happy with this panel. Charges my Goal Zero Yeti 1500 when i'm not plugged in and keeps my battery topped off and charging when we drive or are parked. I haven't had to plug in to shore power in forever. Really Happy with this Renogy Panel.

Title: Good so far, very difficult to get them to ship on time
Review: The panels (5-stars) work well...when......they actually get around to shipping them to you. I've eeduced 2-stars because of the aggravation with shipping. The vendor/Amazon will claim that the item has shipped, for weeks, but the truth is revealed as UPS (the record of truth) always denies receiving the the item(s). You may get the item in 3 weeks. This situation is worse if the panels are on sale (10% off, etc) - even longer transit times. You may get the item in a month or more.So the panels are very good but shipping games are terrible. Also, the vendor hasn't figured out how to use packing tape (say 3-4 8" pieces), so that their overall good packaging won't pop open - with damaged items eventually arriving. To be fair, they will provide you with a UPS label to send them back. This is good. Those responsible for these Renogy fulfillment blunders should be replaced, yielding more profit for Renogy and more satisfied customers that spread the word.I am ready to buy 6-7 more of these 200W panels, but...what further headaches will I be dealing with?It is amazing how some of these companies manage to make a profit. This isn't rocket science! One smart person put in charge of fulfilling orders, and like magic, business would improve a lot.I will update this review when I attempt this drawn-out journey again.Update 10/4/24:This last panel ordered arrived quickly and in a nice new sturdy box. See what happens when the smart people get involved. Adding one more point!

Review: Renogy makes great panels, I have 6 of them in total. All but this one have come in great condition. I thought from looking at the box that it was going to be smashed, but it wasnât. There was tape everywhere on the box. All the Renogy panels I received before had no tape, and this one had lots. There was big dent on the top rail of the aluminum and one corner I had to play with to get it to look better, corner not fit well because of dent next to it. I would have sent it back just because of that but the 175w hard panels are hard to find and are expensive. I should have just got the 200w panels. There seems to be lots of them around and cheaper. I still need one more 175w panel to complete my string. I am just thinking of getting a 200w panel. Itâs a little bigger but donât want to pay extra for smaller panel, and also wait till they have any in stock.I test the panel and it seems to still be working good. Havenât had much sun lately, to test real output of it. I guess we live and learn.

Review: I've checked efficiency (volts, amps) and is as advertized. I'm using it to keep my rowboat's battery charged at my summer cottage. Very pratical 'cause I can't carry : fishing gear, bottle of wine...and a battery all at once.Downer : website to register warrenty, sucks ! Not made to work with cell phone, even in 2022 ?!? You have to start registration over and over to finaly give up.Guess they're too busy building pannels...
