Bullet Comparator Inserts are designed for use with the Lock-N-Load Bullet Comparator; it elminates variables when measuring the over-all length of a bullet. Bullet length can vary a few thousandths due to material variation and tip finish. The Lock-N-Load Bullet Comparator Inserts allow the reloader to measure the bullet from the base to a specific point on the ogive, which has little variation, if any. This versatile system also provides the reloader with a much more consistent way to monitor the overall length of their reloads, allowing the reloader to build more precision into their handloads, that translates into better groups at the range and more meat in the freezer. Title: Accuracy at the next level...
Review: I wanted to take my shooting to the next level of accuracy so I bought the Hornady comparator tools (base, anvil & inserts) to measure from the case datum line & bullet ogive. These tools are well made, easy to use and very accurate. Precision shooting is all about eliminating variables and these tools do just that by providing a way to measure more accurately. In the past, tools of this nature were very expensive but Hornady has found a way to provide these tools at a great price so more shooters can enjoy the benefits. If you want to play at the next level, these tools are essential.

Review: Used with the Hornady overall length gauge, this is a great, accurate way to ensure you are getting a consistent overall cartridge length or you reloads. Review: Having a consistent measurement from the ogive of the bullet to the lands of your rifling is one of the easiest ways to improve shot group size. The Hornady Bullet Comparator is made to measure case base to ogive or CBTO. By using a modified case either fired from your barrel or purchased from a manufacturer and correct caliber bullet of choice you can determine the maximum CBTO of that cartridge/bullet combination. By using that max CBTO you can determine the distance from the lands of the rifling you wish to load your cartridges.
