Title: Amazing project!
Review: I just received this, so I have only first impressions to give.I agree with other reviewers that the type is incredibly small and a bit difficult (but not impossible) to read. However, as it is a huge book that includes the scoring for all the instrumentation and vocals, I sort of expected this.Lets face it, this is not something you take to a gig and hoist up on a music stand in front of you!I see no problem with scanning and enlarging the print!Some of the other reviewers have pointed out that this does not include every single song recorded by the Beatles, just the ones that they wrote.I don't feel like going through every one of my old Beatles' LPs (I have the complete Beatles catalog on vinyl as well as copies in CD) But going through the table of contents, its clear this includes a huge number on non-Beatles penned songs. This includes Carl Perkins' numbers such as Matchbox, as well as some very old songs such as those included on the U.S. "Early Beatles" LP. E.g. "Anna", "Chains", "Bad Boy" etc. So it possibly is missing some very old non-Beatles penned tunes, but I don't think there are very many missing.If this book is missing some few songs, I suspect there were licensing issues that could not be resolved. So I see no reason to ding the product for this minor imperfection.I bought this for the Beatles songs, and in particular, for the Sitar and Indian instrumentation, which this has. I have been playing the main melody lines for Norwegian Woods and Within You Without You on Sitar, mostly by ear and memory. But some of the instrumental parts in WYWY that are played by the Dilruba (Indian Violin) have been illusive for me.Although they are labeled as "violin", this does appear to be the Dilruba parts, so I should be able to easily translate to Sitar.I will update this review if I feel I need to modify it, but right now this appears to be what I was looking for, and well worth the (rather large) expense, as there is no where else to get this information.I suspect that if you play in a Beatles cover band, this would be invaluable.

Title: Worth every penny.....
Review: This is one of the best books on Beatle music that I have ever seen. In fact, I've been using it for the past several months uninterrupted...and having a blast! While it's not a 100% accurate (I have never found any music transcription book free of error), it clearly is a most highly commendable book and worth every penny! Nothing short of fantastic! My only quibbles are as follows:1. Claims to have all Beatle songs, but doesn't have Free as a Bird (one of my favs) and Real Love (I don't really miss this one anyways).2. The type they used is too small (something like 8 pt or smaller) and often too difficult to read, especially for old duffers like me. A larger type would have been much nicer, but then it would turn this very heavy book into a massively heavy book.3. Some of the notation was confusing to me, like the shorthand they used for repeating the notes from previous bar into the next bar rather than typing out the notes again. I was able to figure this out, but it would have been nicer to include a more complete musical notation legend at the beginning of the book.But these are minor complaints...I really have nothing but praise for the book. So, if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to my piano to play Lady Madonna.....

Title: The *Definitive* Beatles songbook
Review: This has been like a bible to me -- the notes, the measures, keys, time signatures, and "quirks" of the Beatles' songs. Although the book does not reproduce *every* note of a song, there is enough materialto follow the Beatles' recordings very closely.

Title: The Best We are Ever Likely to Get
Review: Let me begin by saying that this book has a large number of deficiencies and errors, many of which have been noted in the Amazon.com reviews. Despite this, I have given it five stars because I do not expect anything better to be produced in my lifetime. There is a huge quantity of accurate information here in a very accessible form at a very small price. You can get a very good idea of what the book is like by reading the reviews here on Amazon.com. Basically, most of the songs that the Beatles recorded through Help are transcribed quite accurately. As the songs became more complex (say Rubber Soul on) some of the transcriptions can be more fairly characterized as "sketches." However, the sketches are some of the best on the market. Someone wanting more completeness would do well to price school band music where the charts for a single jazz standard run about half the price of this book. If you have any knowledge of the music publishing industry, you should have a good idea of what it would cost Hal Leonard to make significant improvements or someone else to produce a competing text. Might as well buy this and make corrections in the margins.

Review: I love this book, proud to own it. Glad it exists. But the print is too damn small!Also for the most part, this is the music for the whole band to play, not individuals playing the song melody.

Title: AMAZING documentation of every song The Beatles ever recorded. Very happy it's been so well preserved for future generations.
Review: Every song, every instrument, SO thankful someone was allowed to do this. I would like to know the back-story. It's downright amazing how well it's done with all of the instruments.I've moved around between instruments over the years and it's been interesting to get to try the guitar (TAB!), piano, and now drum parts.The accuracy is spot on. I've never seen any group documented with a meticulous score like this. It must have been a team with a slew of tools to slow down, filter, pull apart the music. MASSIVE undertaking no doubt.The only problem is how small the type/music is due to the size of the material. With every song having only 2 lines of music per page (due to so many instruments being scored) it made for a long book, with thin pages, and tiny type. But I can't complain as they did everything they could perfectly given the constraints of publishing.It's a 6-star piece of work!

Review: Ouvrage fabuleux! Transcription très fidèle de tous les morceaux de The Beatles. Tous les instruments y sont : chant-lead, choeurs, guitares, basse, piano, synthés, ensembles orchestraux, percussions (batterie, congas, tambourin...).J'ai testé quelques morceaux comme "Michelle", "Girl" et "And Love Her" en recopiant les transcriptions dans Guitar Pro 8 en ajoutant les voix réelles (extraites par ailleurs par des logiciels d'isolation des voix et des instruments). A l'écoute, le résultat est bluffant. On a du mal à discerner quelque différence entre l'audio réel (celui du CD) et celui généré par Guitar Pro. J'ai testé aussi quelques autres morceaux en suivant sur la partition mesure après mesure : c'est vraiment très fidèle.Le format (182x257, format japonais B-JIS 5 ?) est un peu déconcertant par rapport à un A4 (210x297) au début, mais la qualité de l'impression est excellente, les petits caractères sont très lisibles, et on s'y fait rapidement. Ouvrage luxueux, relié (non broché!), couverture et étui cartonés glacés épais. Une Bible!...Et toute mon admiration pour cet éditeur incontournable qui a réalité un exploit avec cette oeuvre colossale (210 chansons, 1136 pages) et de qualité : HAL•LEAONARD!

Se sei un fan e sai suonare un qualsiasi strumento, questo è un must have.Bisogna averci la vista buona però, perché per trascrivere tutti gli strumenti hanno dovuto compattare e spartiti, testi e accordi sono piccolini.Scordatevi di usarlo con un leggio.Ma ecco, non prendetevela, non è questo lo scopo del libro.Non è un oggetto da chitarra e falò.Piuttosto da consultazione. Da studio.Quasi da meditazione, se mi passate la metafora.L'edizione è ben curata, copertina rigida e libro protetto da un involucro ulteriore rigido, quando lo riporrete in libreria. Se aveste delle dispute su quale accordo sia stato suonato in un certo brano, ecco qui troverete la risposta esatta. Diffidate delle trascrizioni sul web, sono zeppe di errori!
