Our Mission
We believe that with the right equipment and accountability, the time spent in your car can be fun, enjoyable, and above all, safe.
How did we get our start?
Dongar's journey began when a semi-truck recklessly collided into and totaled our founder Kevin's car.
Years later, finally able to purchase a new car – and eager to protect it – Kevin immediately purchased a dash cam. However, inside the dash cam box was a disappointing sight: a mess of cables permanently affixed to a 'cigarette lighter' style adapter. Unwilling to have wires all over his car or deal with a cumbersome installation process, Kevin took matters into his own hands – he created a small and easy-to-install adapter to power his dash cam, and Dongar was born.
FAST AND EASY INSTALLATION: Enjoy a true plug & play installation process as this dash cam power adapter plugs directly into your rearview mirror, leaving no permanent modifications to your vehicle and keeping your dash cam installation completely hidden behind your rearview mirror.
NOT FOR USE WITH 12-PIN CONNECTORS FOUND INSIDE TRIM: The connector for this adapter is located immediately behind the rearview mirror. THIS ADAPTER CANNOT BE USED WITH THE SAFETY SENSE CONNECTOR.
COMPATIBLE DASH CAMS: This Dongar dash cam adapter is compatible with USB-powered dash cams including: Garmin Mini 2, Garmin Live, Garmin 47, Garmin 57, Garmin 67W, Vantrue N2 Pro, Vantrue N5, and others, Fitcam, Viofo, 70Mai, and all other USB-powered dash cams.
COMPATIBLE ACCESSORIES: This Dongar rearview mirror adapter is also compatible with other USB-powered devices including radar detectors and GPS.
OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE: This dash cam adapter is recommended for USB-powered devices drawing less than 2A at 5V to ensure efficient heat management. If you're using a USB-C powered device, please ensure compatibility by checking the voltage specifications beforehand.
COMPATIBILITY LIMITATIONS: Please note that this adapter is not compatible with devices requiring 12V or those powered by a barrel jack or RJ11 connector. This adapter is not compatible with digital mirrors or mirrors with backup cameras.
COMPATIBLE VEHICLES: Examples of compatible vehicles for this rearview mirror dash cam include: Toyota Tacoma (various trims, 2016-2023), Toyota Tundra (various trims, 2018-2021), various Subaru models (2012-2016), and more. More information is available on the compatibility chart below. Please verify compatibility before placing an order – if you are unsure of your vehicle’s compatibility please contact Dongar support.
EXTENDED COMPATIBILITY: This adapter may also be compatible with additional vehicles with 12-pin rearview mirror connectors. If your vehicle model isn't listed, please verify compatibility by contacting Dongar support for assistance.
AUTO-DIMMING REQUIREMENT: This Dongar dash cam adapter requires an auto-dimming or powered rearview mirror (such as a mirror with garage buttons) to function.
IGNITION-ACTIVATED POWER: This adapter powers your dash cam or other USB-powered device when your vehicle's ignition is ON – it is not intended for parking mode or other constant power applications. By turning on only when your vehicle is on, it eliminates any danger of draining your car’s battery.

Title: Perfect in my Outlander
Review: I was looking to install a dash cam in my Outlander but none of these adapters list my car as compatible. I went and inspected my mirror harness and found it looked like this one. I to confirmed it with the product support for the manufacturer and after I sent them a pic they agreed it was compatible.Installation of the harness and my dash cam went super smooth. Perfect fit and everything is working great. Iâm very happy with how neat and clean I was able to do the install. Completely worth the price.

Title: Works with Toyota, specifically the Tundra
Review: Wow...was not expecting this to work with both my 2019 Toyota Tundra and my Garmin Dashcam 20; however, it plugs right in on the back of the mirror and powers my dash cam with the use of a Micro USB to Mini USB adapter. The adapter is very small and compact, which allows me to mount the dash cam right below my mirror using the mirror mount kit for Garmin devices. The dashcam powers on when the vehicle starts and will power off when the truck is shut off. The mirror is a powered Homelink mirror which controls my three garage doors as well as automatically dims while driving at night. The adapter was plug and play, but since it has a Micro USB output, I had to get an adapter to fit my Dashcam 20 which has a Mini USB input. The only negative, and this has nothing to do with the adapter, is that the dash cam powers up on startup and reads the adapter as a USB transfer device, so it goes to the bright-white transfer screen and doesn't dim or return to the view screen until you press cancel. However, it does still record while in data transfer, you just have to press cancel to return to the main screen. This isn't a problem in the daytime, but at night, the white screen will blind you while driving. You just have to cancel when you first start up the vehicle.I highly recommend this adapter for those of us Toyota owners...too bad they are currently out of stock...hopefully they will make more of these for folks to streamline the look of using a dash cam without all those cords!

Title: Easy Install & Works Perfectly So Far - 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport DCSB
Review: I almost ordered one of these for my previous truck but the reviews warning of blown fuses and CE codes after install made me hesitate. I really wanted to install a dashcam in my new truck so I finally ordered one to give it a shot.My truck is a 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport DCSB with premium and tech. My dashcam is an older (2018) Aukey DR02 that takes a mini USB cable for power. I read that others were successfully using the mini Garmin cams, but figured my dashcam is pretty small and basic (no WiFi, no GPS, no rearview cam) so the power requirements would likely be similar.Install takes all of 5 minutes and everything you need is in the box. I wish Dongar disclosed in the listing that they include a 6 inch mini USB & a 6 inch micro USB cable because I ordered short cables separately. Either way, a nice add-on to include in the box.Install goes like this:1. Clean your windshield.2. Align and place the adhesive pad (or suction cup) for your dashcam behind the mirror.3. Unplug the 12-pin connector from the back of your mirror.4. Plug the Dongar adapter into your mirror where you just removed the OEM cable.5. Plug the OEM cable back into the 12-pin port on the Dongar adapter.6. Plug the USB cable into the Dongar adapter and into your dashcam.7. THEN start or power up accessory mode in your truck.I've checked the adapter's temperature after use (again, due to warnings in reviews here) and it's nice and cool as it should be. My guess is folks who had issues with it running hot or blowing fuses are using devices that draw a lot of power thus overloading the adapter. Everything so far works as described and it's a nice clean install with no wires hanging and no ports below permanently in use by the dashcam. As an alternative to a traditional hard-wire install, which some might not be comfortable or capable of doing, this little adapter is the way to go and a nice mod for under $35.

Title: Some Camry models too, ...
Review: As long as you Camry has the electrical auto dimming mirror with a direction indicator this will work, it was an optional feature so it will not work on all models by it works fine on my 2012 and 2016 since they both have this type of mirror installed. It is not designed to work with models where the plug is inside a casing (FitDVR is one model that work with those type of mirrors) instead of on the back where to place the box is not as obvious on a Camry. Also only get the if you do not want parking monitoring. This type of mirror is only supplied power when the car is running. If you live and work in a safe area this will work fine for you. I am using mine on a Viofo with the Starvis 2 sensor. It is significant upgrade from the older Sony sensor but that is for a different review, I just felt the need for context of application.Yes, the Camry uses 3 of the 12 pins, this adapter only connect 8 of the 12 but they include the 3 used on their auto dimming mirrors. Unplugging and plugging is easy. The type C connector fits tightly so I doubt it is ever falling out. I was not able to test the other three cable. All are fairly short to avoid a cable bundle behind the mirror.

Title: Kind of worked for my 2010 Tacoma
Review: This product worked for my 2010 Tacoma, but now the backup camera doesn't work in the mirror anymore, but I'm fine with that because now I don't have a cable mess. I knew going into it that the product wasn't meant for a truck this old, and was just hoping it would still work, and it did.... mostly. Easy to install.

Title: This works in my 2012 Toyota Tacoma
Review: This is so much nicer than running an independent power wire all the way around and having the adapter stick out of the dash. It doesn't say it works on my 2012, but I had the 12 pin plug, so I tried it, and it works. Very glad I spent the money. Including one short cable of each common USB plug was nice also.

Review: I found this product while watching Youtube videos about Tacoma mods. This thing worked like a charm to discretely mount a dash cam behind my rearview mirror on a 2021 Taco. I didn't know it and bought my own but it came with a short USB mini cable as well. Overall this device looks well crafted and did exactly what it needed to do. Zero problems with it after 6 months of use. Guys at work are even starting to buy them for other vehicles after seeing my setup.
