THE STORY

USS Constellation

Our inspiration for this product came from the USS Constellation which was the first vessel put to sea by the United States Navy. On February 9th 1799 under the command of Captain Thomas Tuxton USS Constellation fought and captured the fastest ship in the French Navy, L'Insurgente. This defeat meant not only was the USS Constellation the first Naval vessel put to sea, it was also the first to defeat and enemy.

Review: This was an impulse buy for me, but boy am I satisfied with it. The first decanter arrived slightly damaged, but the company (Prestige Decanters) was unbelievably quick to send me a new one–absolutely stellar customer service, the kind I've come to expect from top-notch companies on Amazon.Setup is very easy, but this is a work of art and should be handled as such. The base isn't too heavy, but looks great and works good enough. The star of the show is the decanter itself, and it is GORGEOUS. Seriously. Every guest I've had over since I got it has commented on it, and wants to know what's inside, etc. I've filled mine with Bulleit Rye (a favorite of mine), and I love drinking out of this thing–it's just so beautiful and fun to use.I'm guessing it will be easy enough to clean, and I hope to keep this around for a long time. I'm 26 currently, and hoping to maybe pass this down one day. It's expensive, but in my opinion, 100% worth the price. You can count on Prestige Decanters to deliver–I will definitely be a return customer. Really, I can't say enough about how pleased I am. I even dusted off the trust DSLR to get some shots of it–enjoy, and ask any questions you might have.

Review: I ordered 3 of these for the groomsmen in my wedding party in March. Everyone absolutely loved them and thought it was the best gift they ever received. I always wanted one of these and after seeing it in person I was overwhelmed of the detail craftsmanship and high quality of everything. I recently ordered 3 more for Father's Day and also recommended them to a few friends who ended up buying 9 more. They all had the same reaction of what an amazing piece of art they all are. Title: Very nice decanter .
Review: This thing is really beautiful . It was a birthday present & I just love it . The only problem I've had with it is installing the spigot . There is a smooth nut that you have to tighten down on a rubber washer . The threads on the bolt end are quite sharp & I cut my finger tightening it down . Luckily I have jewelers files to take the burrs off . I don't imagine the company makes the spigot themselves . I e-mailed the company & haven't gotten a reply yet so I don't know how their customer service works . Still a nice addition to the top of my desk .

Title: Beautiful but Flawed
Review: Beautiful and as advertised except the spigot valve is packed with black disintegrating rubber/plastic. I have to filter the liquor with a cheesecloth to remove the particles. This valve is the only flaw, but it will ruin your liquor.

Title: Do not purchase this decanter. It ruined the scotch I poured into it.
Review: I purchased this along with a 15 year old bottle of Glenfiddich for my husband’s birthday. Within 30 minutes of pouring this expensive Scotch into the decanter it started to darken drastically in color (not oxidation). The spigot was leaky as well. I poured the Scotch into another decanter - I had to try and save it, but it was too late. It is dark purplish/black and taste is ruined. I’m returning for a refund but sadly am out the $80 for the Scotch it ruined. Very unhappy customer, buyer beware. Not a quality decanter, feels cheap, spigot leaks, and somehow it ruined the alcohol we put in it. ZERO STARS

Title: My worries were unfounded. This decanter is great!
Review: This decanter is amazing and far exceeded my expectations. I was hesitant to order it, even though the reviews were good, because it just seemed like too much going on for everything to work like it should. I was worried that some part of the glass (inside or out) would be broken upon arrival, or the ship inside would break when I washed it before first use, or the seal around the outside of the spigot wouldn't fit snugly and would leak, or the seal inside the spigot would be bad and leak, or the spigot handle would be cheap and break, or the glass stopper wouldn't be made well and wouldn't form an airtight seal, or the base would be flimsy and break when weighed down by a liquid filled decanter, etc... NONE of those things happened. I am here to tell you it is made well and looks a lot more expensive than it is. Check out the picture I included. It definitely holds its own in front of the antique crystal decanters behind it. I couldn't be happier with it. Thanks!
