PWN is back, and better than ever.

The PWN the SAT Math Guide was created to help ambitious, highly motivated kids maximize their SAT math scores. Do you crave a higher score? Are you willing to do a little hard work to achieve it? Good. I knew I liked you.

Read this book from beginning to end, with a pencil in hand and a calculator and an Official SAT Study Guide by your side. When you’re done, you’ll be able to approach the SAT with confidence—very few questions will surprise you, and even fewer will be able to withstand your withering attacks.

Stand tall, intrepid student. Destiny awaits.

Updated for the New SAT

This new edition of the Math Guide has been updated, rather painstakingly, to reflect the realities of the new SAT that launched in March 2016. This book was not rushed to market to take advantage of interest in the new exam. I took my time, and hopefully I got it right.

Chapters are broken into five major sections: Techniques, Heart of Algebra, Passport to Advanced Math, Problem Solving and Data Analysis, and Additional Topics in Math. Each chapter concludes with a reference list of similar questions from official practice tests.

Practice questions are designated as either “Calculator” or “No calculator.” Students will be forbidden from using their calculators for one whole section of the new SAT.

Emphasis is placed on nimbleness—the ability to approach problems in multiple ways to find the one that works best. Calculator solutions and shortcuts are provided where appropriate.

Title: Engaging and effective!
Review: I would give this book 10 stars! My son took the January 26 PSAT and didn’t spend much time on prep. It was scored with a rough curve. He got a 640. He had a bad test day, but his 2 practice tests had him no higher than 710.He was using khan academy for the first month after the test to prep for his upcoming SAT. When the PSAT score came in and one of his classmates did much better, that turned on that light in his mind to do something more. I told him that this book had great reviews on Amazon and I initially found it because it was recommended on a test prep company’s website. He worked through this entire book, using the key in the back to compare where his weak spots were on the practice tests he was taking. I often found him in his room using this book without being asked (nagged). He took a newer practice test not yet in the book, so we emailed the author. He replied right away with the information we were looking for and even posted an explanation on his website for how to solve some questions. This book teaches the best, most efficient way to approach the test.He took the March 13 test and got a 790 in Math!I cannot recommend this book enough. The Khan academy helped, but PWN the SAT is what made the most difference.

Title: Great Book for Anyone: Worth the Cost
Review: I purchased this book for my daughter. Here is her review of the book: I really loved this book! Math tends to be my lowest section, so when I saw the reviews on this book I figured why not give it a try? It was very easy to understand and simple. I loved the humorous, conversational tone of the book which made it a lot more student-friendly. I love how he has an index of techniques for each practice test. It really helped me when I reviewed my practice test; I got the questions right immediately! I really appreciate the author's effort toward putting out such a great book. If you actually follow the study plan/suggestions that he offers in the book I think it can really help you. You should also take advantage of the opportunities available to the Math Guide Owners (you'll know what I'm talking about if you buy the book). I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to raise their SAT scores and just understand math better in general. I look forward to pwning the SAT thanks to this book 🙂

Review: I’ve looked at College Panda, Kallis, and other alternatives, but nothing beats PWN the SAT. This book spends the right amount of time discussing relevant content—and in an irreverent, relatable tone that lightens the intensity of studying for the SAT, thus encouraging students to continue doing so. The practice questions found in the book are realistic; the explanations, comprehensive and clarifying. Having already improved 100+ points on the SAT math section and with more improvements to come, I can say with full assurance that this book is a must-get.

Title: Master SAT Math with PWN!
Review: I'm an SAT and ACT prep tutor of 20+ years' experience, teaching students in New York and around the world online. So I know all the big publishers' textbooks for SAT math but this is the best resource I've found. It's comprehensive, funny, concise and student-friendly without pandering or patronizing. The author has studied the SAT in depth and adapted his solid textbook for the old SAT to the new one with fresh chapters and skillsets to practice. This is a book for all students, not just the top scorers, though they will particularly benefit from it. The focus is on understanding the math and then finding smart ways to get to the answers fast, learning flexibility to solve problems by multiple paths. There is also a free website and blog with explanations to tough SAT questions and challenging online quizzes with video explanations coming soon, offered to all for free for the first week and then exclusively for PWN the SAT: Math Guide owners. It's a terrific resource and (almost) makes you feel excited about doing SAT Math. Studing with PWN is a no-brainer: Get your SAT math on with PWN and get more points on the SAT.Karen Berlin IshiiPremier Tutoring and Test Prep in New York City and online internationallykarenberlinishii.com

Title: I 100% recommend this book
Review: I 100% recommend this book. Although this book is for those who have already grasped the basic concepts of algebra/geometry, it is easy to understand. Mike does a wonderful job explaining each concept with just enough detail. The bits of humor in this book keep you going when you're bored. The practice questions at the end are really helpful because they are more challenging versions of the chapter content. After going through every chapter (be interactive! highlight important parts, takes notes, do the practice questions), I recommend writing down the general idea of each chapter on a flashcard; that way, you don't have to reread the chapters again. Through this painstaking 1 1/2 month process, I am happy to report that I got a 790!(Note: the most important part about improving your score (math or English) is to take actual full-length practice tests.Spending lots of time going over wrong answers, after correcting it, is the best way to improve. That being said, this book is most definitely needed to help achieve a near-perfect or perfect score. Use this book as a supplement to regular practice tests- be sure to finish it through at least once!)

Review: This is hands down the best SAT math book of the 30+ test prep books I own! I'll be taking the SAT next month and always wanted to get a perfect score, the only obstacle being the lack of any good study resources/ tutors where I live. Also, I have been self taught all my life to this point with no formal schooling or home tutors and didn't want to change that either! I am now finally scoring 800/800 on all my math mock tests, and this would truly not be possible without the conversing tone created by Mike's word choices in his book! I had almost given up on the idea of a perfect score after buying every possible SAT book on the shelves of bookstores in a 400 mile radius of my home (Barron's SAT guide/ Barron's SAT 1600/ McGraw Hill/ Princeton review's premium edition/ Princeton review's elite 1600 among many others) and decided to give it one last try by ordering Mike and Nielson's College Panda books from Amazon and burning through them, and I finally succeeded!Thank You once again Mike!
