"This solid wood shelf is extremely sturdy and has a beautiful wood grain pattern. Each shelf has its own naturally unique look. These shelves are 9” deep and come in the choice of two sizes; 12” and 18”. The 12" wide version of these shelves can be used as stepping stones for cats to get to other structures or perches around the house. The larger 18" wide shelf can be used by cats as a place to lounge, relax and observe the room from above. We attach two brackets to each shelf. One is meant to be mounted into a stud and one will be mounted with drywall anchors. When screwed into a stud, these shelves are very strong and have been tested to hold 85 lbs. All our furniture includes screws and drywall anchors. Dimensions: Total width: 12" Total height: 5.5" Depth: 9".Catastrophic Creations Solid Wood Shelving is made from solid pine and metal brackets. Our products are handcrafted in the USA. This piece comes assembled but requires mounting on a wall. All of the brackets come attached for easy installation and with all necessary screws and drywall anchors to install into studs. If your studs are spaced differently or you do not want to use studs, you can also mount the shelving up using 1/8” x 2” Toggle Bolts to sturdily mount our shelving into drywall. These Toggle Bolts would need to be separately purchased.

Title: Simple and stylish cat furnishing
Review: We are pleased with the shelf and the general styling of their cat furnishing. I'm looking forward to getting more items soon. *edit* Even though I have them five stars, this company was nice enough to reach out to me to get me different colored brackets. I find that to be unpredictable customer service.We enjoy the simple style and good quality of the shelf. We have also decided to get one of their larger systems to tie in with it.A final note - these folks are operating their business in Grand Rapids, MI. A city I love dearly. I am glad to see more artisans and crafting ventures come out of a city that was a furniture capital for so long. Supporting then is a pleasure.

Title: Kind of expensive, but even my picky Persian loves these!
Review: Originally I thought these were kind of expensive for just a simple shelf, but they are made very sturdy & look nice. I've bought 2 in this size & my Tortie & Persian babies both love them! My Persian is pretty picky & doesn't even use cat trees too often so that's saying a lot. The shelves come with everything you need & even have very thorough instructions if you've never hung something like this before. I just wish they had bigger sizes for a lower price.

Review: These are really beautiful - extremely solid and don't uglify my decor, unlike most cat furniture. They also have a nice "raw" surface feel for no slipping of kitty paws, without the need to add any kind of non-slip padding (great for my cat who tends to eat such things). Easy to install. I used to just buy cheap shelves at the hardware store for my cats, but for both looks and cat-functionality, these really are worth the extra cost, and will last for years and years. I'm definitely sold on this company.

Title: Perfect little cat step
Review: My kitties love this cat step that I've placed right below their favorite hiding shelf place. I was worried when my kitties begin having an occasional stumble on their jump up, probably due to the fact that they are aging. I didn't want them to fall and hurt themselves. This sturdy, attractive wooden step was the ideal answer. It was easy to install and my cats took to it right away. It's my third purchase from this company and I'm very pleased with all of their items.

Title: Way too wobbly for my 12 pound cat.
Review: Followed the instructions and was sure install it into a stud but the design is flawed and the first time my 12lb cat was on it, it was super wobbly! Took it down immediately because I didn’t want to risk coming home to a total disaster if it fell. Submitting a refund request.

Title: Sturdy plank of.wood!
Review: Solid solid wood and sturdy metal brackets. I got the onyx wash and pretty happy with my choice. It's not the floating look from their newer models but I appreciate the price option and quality. I really dislike having to buy cheap Chinese made products with unfair wages which quite frankly is everything we buy so to know this is coming from the US and hopefully from well paid staff means a lot. Nice product and pretty sturdy if mounted correctly.

Title: Noisy when jumped on
Review: The shelve is stylish and modern. Our cat loves to jump on it and scartch at it. The only concern is it makes a horrible cracking sound when he jumps onto it. It feels secure, but I cringe every time I hear the cracking sound!
