AUTHOR: Chris McMullen earned his Ph.D. in physics from Oklahoma State University and currently teaches physics at Northwestern State University of Louisiana. He developed the Improve Your Math Fluency series of workbooks to help students become more fluent in basic math skills.
WHAT TO EXPECT: This is a workbook designed to offer plenty of practice with essential skills. It is not a textbook designed to teach trigonometry, but a workbook designed to supplement a student’s instruction in trigonometry. Examples and a brief description of the concepts are included to serve as a quick refresher and a guide. If you need more instruction, you should use this workbook in combination with a textbook. The last chapter involves applications of trig identities, which is a challenging topic that will mostly interest more advanced students. A few chapters are intended to help students memorize the trig functions of common angles like 30, 150, or 315 degrees, which will be especially useful for students who may take exams without a calculator (that’s the case with the MCAT and many math and science courses). There may be more practice than many students need, which is much better than having too little practice. Any extra pages may be helpful for teachers or parents with multiple children.
DESCRIPTION: This Trigonometry Essentials Practice Workbook with Answers provides ample practice for developing fluency in very fundamental trigonometry skills. Every problem can be answered without a calculator, which is very helpful for students who aren’t allowed to use a calculator. This is the case in some trig and physics courses, as well as some standardized exams (like the MCAT).
CONTENTS: This workbook is conveniently divided up into 11 chapters so that students can focus on one trigonometry skill at a time. Skills include the following:
converting between degrees and radians;expressing sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, and cotangent as fractions by looking at right triangles;solving for unknown sides and angles in 45°-45°-90° and 30°-60°-90° right triangles;determining the sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, and cotangent of multiples of 30° and 45° up to 360° (working with both degrees and radians);practice finding the reference angle for angles in Quadrants II, III, and IV;finding the inverse trig functions;applying the law of sines and the law of cosines to solve for unknown sides and angles in acute and obtuse triangles;solving problems with trig identities (like the angle sum and difference formulas);and solving algebraic equations that feature basic trig functions.
EXAMPLES: Each section begins with a few pages of instructions for how to solve the problems followed by some examples. These examples should serve as a useful guide until students are able to solve the problems independently.
ANSWERS: Answers to exercises are tabulated at the back of the book. This helps students develop confidence and ensures that students practice correct techniques, rather than practice making mistakes.
PHOTOCOPIES: The copyright notice permits parents/teachers who purchase one copy or borrow one copy from a library to make photocopies for their own children/students only. This is very convenient if you have multiple children/students or if a child/student needs additional practice.
INTRODUCTION: An introduction describes how parents and teachers can help students make the most of this workbook. Students are encouraged to time and score each page. In this way, they can try to have fun improving on their records, which can help lend them confidence in their math skills.

Title: EXCELLENT WORKBOOK (if you overlook the occasional typo)
Review: A good quality workbook. Well defined processes, with graduating order of problems such that the reader is well prepared for the next step. If learning from scratch, students will realize much greater success if making sure they clearly understand the each chapter before moving on.This understanding of trig functions given here makes memorization obsolete, as you understand the logic behind each determination. I am so glad to save this time of memorization and just have a clarity of understanding the unit circle, signs of each sin/cos/tan per quadrant, without wasting any time.Even the typos are so few that when you find them, its rather apparent, and a fun surprise.P14 answer key for problem 11 is incorrect,P 32 has a typo in the additional terms csc, sec, cotp 96 example 2 defines an angle of 210º in quadrant 2, which is actually in quadrant 3 and will change the sign of the answerThere may be other typos, but that's all I found. It would be nice if the publisher listed on a website so purchasers can correct them before attempting to learn trigonometry from scratch. Its nice for all navigators to receive updates whenever a buoy or an island is incorrectly described on a chart, and so too would this greatly serve the student navigating trigonometry.Overall a good learning book, just shy of greatness. Has helped me a ton preparing to test out of trig into precalculus and save a whole semester for crucial prerequisites. Thank you author! If anyone knows of any good books for calculus and precalculus, let me know.

Title: I recommend this book for anyone struggling in Trig
Review: I took a precalculus class and did ok in the class, well after a semester of calculus I don't feel like I learned any of the trig. I purchased this book to help me relearn what I should have in the precalculus class. So far I am working on chapter 2 and I have learned a few things that I didn't in the precalculus class. It has a lot of problems to work out. The answers are in the back of the book for you to review and make sure you are doing the problems correctly. I found this book because of a YouTuber that I subscribed to, The Math Sorcerer. I look for all kinds of math stuff to help get through engineering school.

Title: Useful If Your Child Needs A Little Help
Review: Even if you were never very good at math, if you get a workbook to help your child learn math, I suggest that you let your child try to explain the math in the workbook to you and that you try to understand what your child tells you, because many people who have trouble with math learn better when they try to put it into their own words, or if they can't find the right words, maybe asking them questions will help both of you figure it out. And learning to ask questions about math will help students ask the teacher questions if the teacher doesn't explain well enough!

Title: good for beginners
Review: pretty good book for practice (practice makes perfect) and explains concepts well. However I'm giving it a three because most of the practices were not in radian form but were instead in degrees. i couldn't really use it as much as I hoped to. also they do not provide answers/strategies for proofs.

Review: Covers a lot. Good practice pages. I really needed a good explanation of half-angle, double-angle, etc. type formulas. Good explanations are hard to find on the Internet (or at school, sadly). The last couple chapters were really good in this regard. I'd highly recommend.

Review: In retirement I decided to revisit Maths bur didnât realise how out of touch I was. One are was trigonometry. This book I found so easy to read, and right to the point. My advice: donât skip the exercises! You may think you get it but they really put you to the test. I found the introduction to each section was so easy to follow, and (provided to read it properly) really got you to where you needed to be. Highly recommend this to anybody

Review: From being frightened of trig because my teachers didn't explain it to this level of conciseness and care. This book has all of the trig fundamentals you need to go into further studies. Great stepping stone. Includes great quadrants explanations, conversion, sin, cos, trig identities, combining algebraic with trig problems. My most memorable problems were what some might find tedious of identifying (but I am greatful for)which quadrant the angles lies in, seriously this ability to recognize the correct quadrant applies over and over to other subjects such as physics first year, second year etc.
