In the near future, every household has a servant robot. Some people treat them with contempt, while others get obsessed. One day, two high school boys stumble across a mysterious café that offers a third option: talk to them, free of prejudice, or even full knowledge of who's a robot and who's human. Shocked and rattled by the experience, the boys find themselves learning more about the world and themselves than they ever could have imagined.

Title: Excellent Movie and excellent Deluxe Edition
Review: This is a great edition of a great film about AI and the possible moral complications that could arise from a society comprising of humans and robots living together.Itâs a well directed film too with great use of camera angles that arenât usually seen in most animated films and the soundtrack fits really well and itâs included in this collectors edition Blu-Ray along with well designed packaging and an excellent bonus book that delves into the design of the movie and soundtrack with a great story at the end.All in all I really recommend this International Release Deluxe Edition Blu-Ray and itâs a film that anyone interested in animated movies or just great movies in general should own or at least watch. Also, all Blu-Rays should be region free as sometimes the extras you get in one country arenât the same as in another and I feel thatâs unfair (American and Japanese releases of Anime especially are generally of much higher quality and thatâs possibly due to the ridiculous charges made by the U.K. BBFC for extras - £6 for each minute of extras to the actual film! And usually the packaging and physical extras are massively better, just look at Amagi Brilliant Parkâs collectors edition to see what I mean).

Title: Very well thought out tale of human and robotic interaction in the near future
Review: This is a very thoughtful look into AIs, robots and androids, the three laws of robotics, and how machines and humans might get along in the early days of the relationship. This is not a dumbed down cartoon sit-com, but rather a tale of machines interacting with humans in a café which permits no discrimination between humans, robots or androids. The discrimination includes self identifying as a machine, so all the patrons act and claim to be human. Part of the fun is figuring out who is a machine and who is a human. The gripping part is that it is all believable.Current actual predictions under Moore's Law are that by 2034, a desktop computer will have the capacity of the human brain. One and a half to two years later, that desktop will have twice the capacity of the human brain. Thinking machines are coming (once the software catches up with the hardware), so this topic will be relevant in the not so far future.

Title: A Must Have for Any Anime Lover!
Review: This is a must have for any Anime fan, ranking up there with the Studio Ghibli movies and Paprika as a must own for anyone who enjoys anime. If you are looking for a gift for your son/daughter/friend etc... who loves anime, check their shelf. If they do not own this, then look no further. You must buy this for them, I can not exclaim how high quality the animation and production value is on this movie. Everyone should sit down and watch this movie at least once.

Title: Take note, triple A studios, this is how it's done.
Review: Gorgeous art, engaging story and setting, excellent voice acting. I will definitely be watching for other works by Yasuhiro Yoshiura. While the feature is well worth the price alone, I also enjoyed the two other short films, Pale Cocoon and Aquatic Language, generously included in this release (Pale Cocoon, in particular, was brilliant). The inclusion of the sound track was a very welcome touch, making this a must buy.

Title: A good thinking anime...
Review: This movie has an unusual plot line. It takes place in the future where androids are commonplace and are very human-like. Out in the public, they are seen as subservient slaves and can be distinguished by a halo above their heads. A boy discovers their android seems to go off on its own to a cafe called Eve. Curious as to why the android would go to such a place, he enlists the aid of a friend and goes there. They discover that androids and humans mingle at the cafe without knowing who is an android or human as the androids turn off their halos. They also discover that androids are more human-like with feelings when given that freedom. The graphics quality is excellent. The backgrounds are very detailed and well drawn. The characters themselves are drawn more human-like as well instead of the atypical manga style. Sound is clear but not notable as it is mostly dialog driven.Overall, the story is very good and very thought provoking. A very good movie that I can easily recommend...

Title: Eve's not for me
Review: The reviews led me to believe that I was buying a potential classic, maybe it is for some, but I was totally bored by this movie even the quality animation didn't keep me glued . I will stick to the classic 80's and 90's Anime among with the recent Ghost in the Shell productions

Title: A fun and imaginative story
Review: One of the best narratives about the possible eventuality about how humans and machines will interact when machines are built to look like humans. Also, the soundtrack is very good.

Review: Lovely. But I do feel that the original episodic presentation work better for the story than this concatenated "movie" edition.

Review: "Time of Eve" is not only dealing with Asimov's laws, but also how you approach without reservations to new, foreign or unknown individuals, without being dazzled by the at first glance seemingly obvious. In a sense, "Time of Eve" looks like a theatre piece, as it plays in the Cafe called "Time of Eve" over long distances. The limited number of people inside the Cafe let it appear like a theatre stage, on which alternately the "actors" have their appearances and scenes. This creates, in my opinion, a pleasant atmosphere, in which one is always waiting for what will happen next. And if you know the characteristic style of Anime, then you will also find a good sense of humour in this beautiful, touching and inspiring movie.

Review: Recently, after many years in hiding, we have the joy of once again buying anime Deluxe Editions in Region B territory. Say what you will about the company ALL THE ANIME, but they've released some very nice funky editions in the past year and with TIME OF EVE Deluxe Edition released by Pied Pipper we can get another excellent release.Originally this was a KickStarter project and I was extremely disappointed to find out I was to late to the party and I wouldn't have the opportunity to purchase this fantastic product. I was very happy to learn later on that this release would be made available on Amazon eventually and as soon as it was available to purchase I made my order. However, Amazon decided to use a package that was slightly thinner than the digipack and guess what happened? What aggravated it more was the long journey from the UK to Australia but I was happy to see that the digipack was only slightly damaged. Amazon needs to find a way to package digipacks in such a way that when it arrives at our door we can be confident that the digipack will be unblemished. They did after all do it for steelbooks. After checking up on different options available I found Amazon UK to be the cheapest way to get it to Australia. The box which houses the discs and booklet aren't in a chipbox but it a high quality sturdy thickish cardboard that you don't see often outside of Japan. As you can see in the above image of the box the UK rating that's standard with all UK BR/DVD releases is visible. To some this is really annoying and those that find it so will be happy to learn that it's only shown in the wrap-around slip that can be removed if so wished to leave the front clean. Also, the sides a free of the ratings logo too.The booklet is a softcover and like everything else with this box set is also in excellent quality. The discs are housed in the slip and are held securely so you will be very unlucky if your set arrives with a floating disc. There doesn't seem to be any problems with the transfer and the audio is clean in both the Japanese language or English dub. The on-disc special features are substantial and the cd soundtrack is also a nice bonus. In the end this set wouldn't look out of place standing next to your imported Japanese anime BD/DVD.

Review: This movie is wonderful. No fights, no magical girls, no tentacles, just a gentle and well told take on the "we are all just people under the skin" story. The way to get people to cease fearing, indeed sometimes to love one another is to create a place where the differences between human and AI are no longer immediately visible. There is also a point made of a need for acceptance even when the differences ARE unavoidably visible and the outcast is a broken person.I loved it. I suggest you buy it. Also with the blu ray are a booklet AND the soundtrack CD - marvellous value. The extras include two thought provoking shorts, a trailer, and extras relating to those involved in production.

Review: I don't write many reviews, but I had to for this. It is a truly brilliant miniseries/film. The series follows two school students as they begin to realise that behind closed doors, the androids that they believed only had purpose in serving humans, actually lead lives of their own.It speaks to anyone who has been in a minority and had to hide their true selves from the rest of the world. It's not fast-paced or flashy like a lot of anime. It's more of a cross between a studio Ghibli and a Mamoru Oshii film.It looks at the age old AI question, 'If humans and androids are indistinguishable, what makes us human?' but it looks at it with fresh eyes in a fascinating, heart-warming way.
