Title: Great blade
Review: Didn't realize how dull my old blade was until I replaced it with this one. I plane down rough red oak for wainscoting and biscuit join them. This new blade make the process much easier.

Title: This is a joke, right? Where's the punch line, Porter Cable?
Review: Ordered it yesterday and it came today (thanks Prime). It's going on my Porter Cable 557 biscuit jointer (I have the version 2).Like others have already mentioned, the Freud blade is just a smudge thinner than the PC blade. I just used an air grinder to take about 1/128th off the shaft. Took longer for my air compressor to fill up than it did to knock off the edge. Quick, simple, and I was done. So, with the new Freud on, I tried cutting on a piece of maple. Man, does it cut nice! And I know it's not just a matter of my PC blade being dull as prior to putting on the Freud, I had put on, for the first time, my new 2" Porter Cable blade (which came with the 557) and it was just as hard to cut with as the 4" P.C. blade. So come on Porter Cable... where's the phone call / email / written letter telling us "April Fool's... we were joking with our oem blade and the new one is in the mail."Buy this Freud, NOW!

Title: Biscuits are loose
Review: The new blade is sharp as can be and cuts wood like butter, but the biscuits are loose in the slot. I would think the width of the slot should be standardized and any cutter should cut the proper dimensions.

Title: Great blade for biscuit joiner
Review: Having read the reviews about the fit on the Porter-Cable 557 (which I own), I purchased this blade nonetheless. With my dial calipers, I measured the blade about 0.01 inches too thin to be held by the arbor nut and flange. One can easily get pre-cut shim stock for arbors to take that up. Myself, I used a piece of polyester-backed sandpaper scrap that easily measured twice that, trimmed it and easily snugged it down. A metal circular shim .875" ID and about 1.1" OD and .02 " thick would be great to include with the blade. On first use, I thought the blade was slipping, but it wasn't. It was just that sharp and quiet compared to the (admittedly worn) stock blade. Kind of giggled over the dramatic difference in cutting speed and quality. The only resistance I could feel was the return spring in the joiner itself. Cut several test slots in plywood and hardwood, and the biscuits all fit snug.Highly recommended. If you have a PC 557 joiner, fear not. Get the blade and a shim or follow the advice to grind down the arbor a touch, and get cutting.
