Play Golf Forever is a practical guide to slowing down the gradual decline in your body as you get older. Suzanne Clark has 30 years' experience as a physiotherapist and is a keen, all-round sports player. She explains in layman's terms how your body works when you play golf and what you can do to make it healthier and fitter to enable you to play for longer. She describes how to strengthen key muscles as part of the everyday tasks you already do, how to prevent injury and what to do if you are injured. This book is for all the over 50s who want to keep playing golf.

Title: Liking this Depends on What Type of Exerciser You Are
Review: This book helps with strengthening and stretching as a program. At this point (in the 50s) I do the barely workout where you exercise enough to prevent loss of strength and gain of width. It will work if it's your speed.

Title: Great book
Review: Got this book for my 83 year old Dad. He's doing the exercises every day & really feels that they are helping. If he reads the book & likes the book & uses the information in the book, it's a good book.

Review: I have not read this as it was a Christmas gift for a father who while still able to go golf, is getting to that kinda age where his favourite pastime might be rudely whisked away. He's tweaked his back once or twice in the past, so I didn't want him to lose out on swinging those rods of metal. Anyways, I've caught him a few times over the past 2 months doing various stretches he says have come from said book. He says it all makes sense, and he THINKS that he's a little looser in his body, which sounds like a good thing.Anyways, he's a golfer, he read the book, he is doing the exercises and feels a benefit. That sounds pretty good to me.

Review: While I am not one of those players that seem to be 'permanently injured', I have found in recent years that when I do have a problem it is noticeable just how much longer it takes to heal than when my teenage daughter gets injured. She seems to bounce back in a week whereas I find I am out of the game for several. I have learned that getting the right rehabilitation exercises in place quickly and, better still, preventative exercises are key, but the problem is finding out which exercises are the right ones to do. The internet bombards you with hundreds and it's difficult to know which to choose. Seeing a Physio is, of course, the best solution. Don't forget they are qualified to degree level (unlike certain personal trainers I've come across) and it shows ⦠but my goodness they are expensive and they will want to see you several times so the cost soon adds up.So, I turned to this book primarily because I noticed the author is a qualified physiotherapist. I found it to be uplifting and positive, with the clear message that age is no excuse. Chapter 6 really earned the five stars for me. Entitled 'How to Treat and Overcome Common Golf Injuries, Aches and Painsâ, it is this Chapter that puts the book firmly in the category of 'Self-help Books'. Not only does it give you injury-specific professional physiotherapist's advice (a bargain at £12.99 when compared to the cost of a private consultation), but it also has 'Ask the Pro' suggestions. So it makes you think about all the possible reliable sources of advice you have at your disposal when you have a problem, without resorting to trawling through bobbins on the internet.
