A powerful curse forces the exiled Queen of Faerie to choose between ambition and humanity in this highly anticipated and jaw-dropping finale to The Folk of the Air trilogy from a #1 New York Times bestselling author.

He will be the destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne

Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan's betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her twin sister, Taryn, whose life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict's bloody politics.

And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity . . .

Title: I love this series! A change from the normal fantasy genre!
Review: I love the intricacies of the land of the folk and the character development that went into these stories! Going away from the normal "I hate you, I love you" storyline, the characters develop the transition slowly and grow into being able to take down their proverbial armor over time and hardship, sometimes unwillingly or unwittingly. Aside from that aspect, Holly creates a storyline that's ripe with adventure, wonder, and pain. It's a truly beautifully written masterpiece!

Title: More satisfying than expected
Review: When I finished "The Wicked King" earlier in the year, I was annoyed to find that the series that I thought would be a two-book series had turned into a trilogy. I had even decided that I would not read the last book.Well, that didn't happen. More often than not, Holly Black has delivered for me since I first read "Tithe" years ago.So I went ahead and purchased "The Queen of Nothing" which is the final book of the Folk of the Air (or at least the final that will feature Jude as the main character). Now that I finished it, I feel a need to go back and re-read "The Wicked King" to reassess.Anyway, I am relieved to note that I did enjoy "The Queen of Nothing". The first book remains the most solid narratively for me but "Queen" is still very good. It is well paced with a nice balance between character interaction and action. I was very pleassed to see that Vivi, the eldest sister who has fae blood, get more screen time. For me, she's always been the most enigmatic of the sisters.Yet, Jude remains the center of the story as she is the narrator. It opens with Jude in exile in the mortal world. She's been tricked out of Elfhame and she's making do as an errand person of sorts for the fae also in exile. The story doesn't linger long in the mortal world but the battle with Grima Mog, a general of the Court of Teeth, is a well done scene that is not wasted once the narrative moves back to Elfhame and all its courtly intrigues. All the characters that one expects to see in a final book and I wasn't disappointed. Jude also lives up to her chaotic, conflicted self. In other characters, it can get annoying (and frankly, Jude does get annoying at times), but mostly, she is a character where her conflicts are not flaws but assets. If there was an aspect that was a (very) slight letdown, it is that the ending is a bit too neat and this was a series that thrived in its messiness. I also prefer Cardan with his snarky edge. It isn't completely gone but it did seem a bit softened. That said, this last entry was a satisfying finale for me as a reader. Enough that I would like to re-read the first book for a third time and re-read the second book with less hostility.

Title: Fabulous book that's as good as the previous two.
Review: This book was so good and so much fun. The conclusion to Judes story was better than I could have hoped for and this book is just as strong and compelling as the previous two.At the beginning of this book we see Jude left reeling after three major betrayals. She's back in the human world, exiled. Presumed dead in the mortal world with no social security number Jude is left doing odd jobs for the solitary fey that live amongst the humans to make ends meet. While languishing in the human world Taryn runs into some pretty big trouble in Faerie. She comes to Jude for help and suddenly Jude is to traverse into Faerie for her sister. War, politics, and romance complicate Judes precarious return. In this book there's a lot more character development with everyone really, but especially Jude. We see real vulnerability as she deals with her feelings for Cardan, Taryn, and Madoc. Well paced and exciting with lots of twists and turns this book will have you reading late into the night.

Title: this series is everything to me
Review: I’m not even sure how to put into words the way this series has made me feel 🥺 first let me say I love it immensely and it’ll now reside in my top favorite fantasy series ever, rubbing elbow with Throne of Glass (which should really say enough if you know me at all)This series, mainly this last book, made me feel a way I haven’t felt since I read Throne of Glass for the first time 2 years ago. And even more impressive is that Holly Black was able to evoke those same feelings from me in far less than half the amount of words. In 3 books and a super short novella, Holly had be as invested and in love with these characters and this story as SJM did in 8 huge books. The way Holly can tell a story so rich and beautiful in such a succinct amount of time is incredible and thrilling. I feel like I just read a high fantasy story of epic proportions and it only took 3 books that stayed around 300 pages in length. This last book was really something else too. I enjoyed the entire series of course but this book had me on the edge of my seat biting my nails for the majority of it. A fantasy series hasn’t made my heart race like that in ages. The final battle scene had me feeling like Kingdom of Ash all over again. The chaos and surprise after surprise had my mind spinning and had me crying over and over again.I know it may seem unfair to keep comparing this series to another, but Throne of Glass means everything to me so I just want to convey how phenomenal this series was to me and how it’s cemented itself in my heart. The characters are arguably my favorite part of the whole thing. The growth we see in just three books from Cardan and Nicasia, even Vivi and Taryn, is so touching and surreal. Like looking back at book 1 Cardan and his friends I’d never have thought we’d end up here. Especially Nicasia, whose appearance made me sob hard in that final battle. The found family between Jude and the spies and Cardan, and then with Jude’s siblings just was really beautiful. Even the allies from other courts that don’t play a huge part in the grand scheme of things have a special place in my heart.I’m so glad I finally picked up this series and I believe I’ll think of little else for some time.

Review: Yes. Yes. Yes.Wonderful end to the Folk of the Air trilogy. Wonderful, fast paced read full of romance plot twists and magic! You need to read this series. Starting where the Wicked king left of, after that wonderful plot twist, this book takes place in the mortal world, the shifting isles, and explores more of Faerie. We get to learn even more about the characters through Jude’s perspective (what a badass fmc!!). 5 stars. 10/10. Love this.
