ExpoDisc v3 Professional White Balance Filter
Save time editing your photos & video by quickly setting your white balance with the ExpoDisc v3
ExpoDisc v3 Professional White Balance Filter
ExpoDisc Saves Time Editing White Balance in Photos and Video
Don't Waste Time Correcting Color
Correcting the color temperature and tint of an image with poor color can be difficult and time consuming.
You can eliminate most of your post-capture color correction by setting an accurate custom white balance in-camera with the ExpoDisc.
For most cameras it takes only 15-20 seconds to set your white balance with the ExpoDisc.
Consistent and Accurate Color
Simply set an in-camera white balance to achieve consistent and accurate color in your photos and video. It's much faster and easier to set a good custom white balance with the ExpoDisc than it is to edit the color of your images or video in post production.
Hand Calibrated and Certified in the USA
Assembled & Tested in California
We assemble, test, and certify every ExpoDisc in California on a transmission spectrophotometer to ensure each one meets our standards for light transmission across the visible and near infrared spectrum (350-2200nm) for standard and IR photography.
Certified for Neutrality
Each ExpoDisc v3 Professional White Balance Filter includes a quality control card to certify its tested neutrality.
Neutrality across the full visible spectrum is important because using a non-neutral tool for white balance can result in poor white balance, and therefore poor color in your images or video.
Wide Spectrum White Balance 350-2200nm
Accurate White Balance
The ExpoDisc v3 enables precise custom white balance adjustment across the visible spectrum with a light transmission delta of just 0.9% from 380-700nm to ensure accurate color reproduction for digital photography and videography.
Infrared (IR) photography white balance
The ExpoDisc v3 maintains excellent light transmission into the near infrared spectrum with a light transmission delta of just 1.1% from 700-1600nm.
Simple White Balance - No Software Required
In-Camera White Balance
To set your white balance, simply hold the ExpoDisc in front of your lens and follow your camera's instructions to set a custom white balance. The custom white balance procedure varies by camera brand and model, but for most cameras this only takes 15-20 seconds.
Aim towards the light source
When setting a white balance with the ExpoDisc aim the camera towards the dominant light source (just like you would do when metering the light on a subject with an incident light meter).
When shooting RAW
If you're shooting RAW, set the in-camera white balance and simply download your images "as shot". Or you can capture a reference "gray frame" image through the ExpoDisc v3 to use later in your image editing software.
ExpoDisc Improves White Balance
Studio Flash / LED Lights
Use the ExpoDisc for off-camera speedlights, studio flash, and LED constant lights modified with soft boxes, photographic umbrellas and diffusers.
Outdoor Portrait
Use the ExpoDisc for outdoor portraits taken in all lighting conditions, including open shade, cloudy skies, and direct sunlight.
Indoor Mixed Lighting
Use the ExpoDisc for indoor mixed lighting portraits taken under tungsten, halogen, fluorescent, LED, window light, and other combinations of indoor lighting.
Landscape Photography
Use the ExpoDisc for landscape photography taken under all natural lighting conditions.
Improve your white balance when capturing infrared (IR) photography images
Reduce your image and video processing and editing time by setting your white balance in-camera with the ExpoDisc v3 when using IR filters or an IR camera to capture infrared images or video.
The ExpoDisc v3 utilizes new diffusion materials that deliver an improved wide spectrum white balance from 300nm-2200nm, enabling consistently accurate white balance results when using IR filters to capture images at 550nm, 590nm, 665nm, 720nm, 850nm, IR Blue, or IR Chrome.
Setting your white balance with the ExpoDisc only takes 15-20 seconds on most cameras.

What is ExpoDisc Used For?
Custom White Balance
When used to set a custom white balance the ExpoDisc consistently produces excellent color balance in natural, artificial, studio, and mixed light environments.
How does it do this? When you set a custom white balance your camera meters the exact color temperature of light passing through the ExpoDisc. Your camera then applies the appropriate color correction adjustment in-camera to correct for the color it meters through the ExpoDisc.
Incident Light Metering (Optional)
The ExpoDisc is not just for white balance; its uniform diffusion means that it can also be used to meter incident light for exposure. The ExpoDisc v3 is now calibrated to be inline with ANSI standards for digital light meters, ensuring approximately 14% light transmission.
Easier-To-Use than a Gray Card or Calibration Target
The ExpoDisc is easier-to-use than a gray card, white card, or color calibration target because you simply hold the ExpoDisc in front of your lens while setting your camera's custom white balance.
Small Gray Cards and Calibration Targets are Difficult to Use
Gray cards, white cards, and color calibration targets require careful placement in the subject scene, and they must be placed or held at an angle that avoids shadows and reflections from nearby objects.
White balance cards and targets tend to be small so you can fit them in your bag, but the small size also makes them inconvenient for in-camera white balance adjustments.
The result is that you typically photograph gray cards, white cards, or color calibration targets in the scene for use later in image editing software.
Hold ExpoDisc Over Your Lens
Lightweight and Durable
ExpoDisc v3 weighs 1 oz and is made from an incredibly durable polycarbonate material that flexes; it will not crack or break.
Hold Over Your Lens
It's easy to hold over the end of your lens whenever you need to set your white balance, and thin enough to fit comfortably in your pocket when you're not using it.
Hold Over Smaller Lenses
With a diameter of 86mm the ExpoDisc v3 can simply be held over smaller lenses up to 82mm.
Bayonet Mount
ExpoDisc v3 includes a new bayonet mount with 77mm and 82mm adapter rings for users who prefer to temporarily attach the ExpoDisc directly to their lens while setting their white balance.
Available with 82mm or 77mm Adapter rings
The ExpoDisc v3 is available for purchase with a 77mm or 82mm Adapter Ring (select the 82mm or 77mm version when purchasing).
Additional Adapter Rings are available for purchase separately. Third party step rings can also be screwed into the ExpoDisc step rings to adapt the mount to even smaller filter sizes.
Hold ExpoDisc Over Your Lens
The ExpoDisc v3 white balance filter has a diameter of 86mm and it can be simply held over the end of smaller lenses without using the ExpoDisc v3 adapter ring.
Save time editing your photos and video
The ExpoDisc is easy-to-use, and it only takes 15-20 seconds to setup your white balance. Simply hold it over your lens and aim the camera towards the light source, then set your white balance in-camera. Best of all, no software required.
ASSEMBLED AND TESTED IN USA: We care about our products - we assemble, test and certify every ExpoDisc in California on our transmission spectrophotometer.
DURABLE IMPACT RESISTANT DESIGN: ExpoDisc v3 is made from impact resistant polycoarbonate materials that will not crack or break, even when dropped.
QUICKLY SET WHITE BALANCE: Set your white balance in-camera (no software required), or capture a gray reference image to use with your preferred image editing software when processing your RAW files in post production. In most cameras you can set a white balance in 15-20 seconds.
EASIER-TO-USE THAN A GRAY CARD: Simply place the ExpoDisc v3 in front of your lens and capture the incident light while setting your camera's white balance.
NEW WIDE SPECTRUM WHITE BALANCE: The ExpoDisc v3 enables precise custom white balance adjustment across the visible spectrum (380nm to 700nm) and extends to the infrared spectrum (700nm to 2200nm).
INFRARED (IR) WHITE BALANCE: ExpoDisc v3 maintains excellent light transmission from 350nm to 2200nm allowing for consistent white balance when using infrared (IR) filters for infra red photography.
CALIBRATED LIGHT TRANSMISSION: The new ExpoDisc v3 is calibrated to be inline with ANSI standards for digital light meters, ensuring approximately 14% light transmission.
IMPROVED EXPOSURE ACCURACY: With this calibration, the ExpoDisc v3 offers a notable improvement of approximately 1/3 to 1/2 f/stop when using it for exposure metering on digital cameras.

Title: Does As Advertised
Review: Had to watch YouTubers to get a good idea how to use it. Once I followed a few steps, it truly works! I think it's a bit expensive and needs a bit of a handle to hold it over any lens. But I will use it every time! I use it for shooting artwork like watercolor and acrylic paintings.

Title: Greatly improved white balance setting.
Review: This version is definitely a vast improvement over version 2. I shoot in raw and in nuetral flat on nikon z7ii and did a few test pics just to get my feet wet and the white balance set compared to version 2 the colirs are are more rich and deep compared to a a flat look across the spectrum with V2. Considering I shoot in nuetral flat this is surprising when popped into lightroom and photoshop. My mainstay and money maker is black and white with the wider color spectrum set with setting white balance gave the test shots when converted to black and white more control when I set the color sliders for b&w color balance producing a richer b&w photo.

Title: Very Disappointing "Upgrade"
Review: I use this product because I shoot indoor volleyball and the light sources vary greatly (color, intensity, flicker, etc). Setting your camera's White Balance for the erratic light sources in these situations is essential. I have Version 1 of this product and it is AWESOME. I bought it over ten years ago and I still use it today with great results. I needed another ExpoDisc because I have a new mirrorless camera kit a that has it's own ExpoDisc. I tried to buy another Version 1 or even a Version 2 ExpoDisc (either new or used), but I couldn't find anything. So I bought Version 3 from Amazon. The product page lists all the improvemenrs to Version 3 over previous versions. It arrived next day in good condition. But upon inspection the latest version of this product is a serious step back in build quality.1) Version 1 was made of thick metal and glass. Version 3 is thin plastic. I mean thin.2) Version 1 had a nice snap/snap out in feature for use on a lens. This allowed you temporarily attach the device to the end of the lens, shoot into the light source, and then set the WB. When satisfied with the WB setting, you store it away. It doesn't stay on the camera. Version 3 apparently can thread into the lens like a filter. I'll never do this because it is made of plastic and I only need to use it for a few seconds. Who needs to have it mounted continuously?3) Version 1 had a well made carrying case that was both stiff and well padded (no worries about having it in a crowded camera bag). Version 3 has a flimsy carrying case. No rigidity, almost no padding. It won't protect the thin plastic Version 3 ExpoDisc in a crowded camera bag.4) Version 1 had a nice corded lanyard. Version 3 has a cheap cloth lanyard.Basically, EVERYTHING has become cheaper on this product as it went from Version 1 (awesome) to Version 3 (cheap). This isn't rocket science. This is a straight forward product with no moving parts. It serves an important but simple purpose. There is no huge leap in technology here. Yes it got lighter, but because the materials they used are cheaper and thinner. And the price didn't drop. I think I paid nearly the same amount 10+ years ago for a far better product. Shameful.Do yourself a favor, if you want this product, find Version 1. It is excellent. This version is NOT.

Title: Great product for easy color correction
Review: This was awesome for fixing my color issues in those dreadful HS gyms! Iâm shooting at ISO sometimes 12,800 plus and JPEG is just better for the in camera noise control but colors are often an issue. This made a world of difference for me and itâs super simple to use! Wish I would have bought it sooner!

Title: Expodisc Failure
Review: Expodisc is an epic failure. No mater how I use it I get a âFailure to set white balanceâ. I tried on two different brand cameras with two different lenses each and received the same message. If I didnât already throw the box out I would ask for a refund.

Review: I used the previous version for years and it saved me so much time that it's paid for itself many times over. This newer version is actually cheaper than the previous version by a few pounds and it comes complete with a handy case to protect it. It's 82mm filter thread size is perfect for all the lenses that I own, it's simple and easy to use as you can capture the WB one of two ways. Both ways you put it in front of the lens and you capture an image and use this to set your WB when editing. The second way is to set a custom WB in camera via the settings of your camera. You can also use it the same ways with flash photography.

Review: ExpoDisc has really downgraded their production standards it was a piece of flimsy plastic not Expodisc quality of the past i have a 77MM and it is built like a tank the 82mm will break easily and comes with plastic setup rings and not useful at all would never use it when it takes longer to put it on then it does to white balance your camera purchased DataColour product instead
