Title: Does not work! Had to return, defective per the manufacturer.
Review: This product was not good, we called the manufacture, and our professional installer (20 plus years of experience) was told that since it was sold by an unauthorized dealer, that we should just return it.

Title: Better than the components
Review: I bought this so I could hide my components inside an antique hutch. It worked flawlessly. What else is great is that it actually receives the IR better than my cable box. I now have less trouble punching in channels and controlling cable. It worked as advertised with my scientific Atlanta box which some brands don't. It was very easy to install and there is no programming necessary. The unit just works.

Title: It works great with my plasma TV, but be ready for some issues...
Review: This is my second Xantech product to have an issue with plug on the IR receiver.First the good: as a former custom home theater installer, I have had plenty of exposure to the Xantech line of products. They are good products and will server you will for a long time. I am happy to see that after years of the IR flashers falling apart, Xantech has finally updated the design. These new flashers (4 included with this item) appear to be a single piece and therefore should hold up much longer. I bought this kit because of a need to replace my current flashers and because my current one was affected by my new plasma panel. As described, this IR receiver isn't effected by the LED or CFL bulbs in my home, or by the plasma panel. I have the IR receiver placed behind a cloth panel (like a speaker grill) and it works fine there. The problem I had and the reason for only 3 starts, was with the 1/8 stereo plug on the IR receiver. For the second time in a row, the internal connection was bad and the unit did not work straight out of the box. I had to cut the plug off and solder on a new one, which thankfully I had. I will admit that I did not connect Xantech about this. I had my home theater apart and wasn't about to put it back into the cabinet just to pull it out again later based on the hopes of getting a new receiver. In summary, it is a good product and does what it is supposed to. However, lack of quality control may leave you scratching your head and/or boxing it right back up.

Review: This is not playing nice with my Motorola Cable Box!

Title: Work's first time out.
Review: Worked first time without any issue's. I've installed many different types of IR extender's and recently have run into an issue with the less expensive types. They are not wide band and don't work with certain Cisco and Motorola devices. To add to the frustration sometimes people change cable providers like Spectrum to FIOS and the IR kit worked on Spectrum and then doesn't work with FIOS. So I decided to upgrade to this Xantech IR Kit and haven't had an issue with any of the legacy equipment or new equipment coming out. Xantech tech support is also very good.

Title: Perfect solution if you are looking to hide your AV equipment.
Review: Works exactly as advertised. I had to buy a 50' extension cable because my AV equipment is 30' away in a closet and the cable that is included wasn't long enough.

Title: won't honor warranty if bought here
Review: Just got off the phone with tech support. They determined that I probably have a defective IR reciever, but it's possible that it's the block. I'll never know which.BUYER BEWARE:-Xantech was obviously irritated to be dealing with a consumer, and they outright told me so. They only deal with authorized dealers.-Since I bought my Xantech product from someone other than their 2 authorized dealers (smarthome or partsexpress) my warranty is void. They will not honor, even though he had just diagnosed and acknowledged a fresh-out-of-the-box manufacturing defect.Nice. I'm chalking Xantech up to a loss and moving on to other brands. BUYER BEWARE! I got burned, hope you don't.(i'm putting this review on a couple more xantach products, even though I didn't buy those exact versions, because I think this information about the Xantach company very pertinent to a potential buyers here on amazon.)
