Title: Keep it concise, to-the-point, and organized --> Bar Passage
Review: I used this book to prepare for the July 2013 NY & MA bar. It has some very very helpful tips on how to approach certain types of questions. Mary also gives great insight on looking at your own essay critically from the grader's point of view. While taking a substance bar exam prep course, for all my essay writing practices, I used the tips that Mary gave in this book. I received good scores from the bar review course before sitting for the bar. Results? I passed both NY and MA. It's definitely worth the money. It's a small investment considering the amount of points you may accumulate on your bar essay questions.

Title: So simple and yet...
Review: When I studied for the bar this time around, I changed a number of different things. The bar prep, the amount of time I devoted to it, even when I studied. I bought this book on a recommendation. It only took me the first two chapters to get the gist of what was being advised, and the bar prep instructors echoed the advice. It might be intuitive for some of us, but for those struggling with the bar exam (or even law school essays), it might provide the missing link to your writing. I know it did for me.PS, I passed both states I sat for.

Title: Alright depending on your state and level of skill
Review: I bought this book because I'm trying to pass the bar exam after previous attempts. This book was mentioned on a couple of law schools' websites so I decided to give it a try. It has some decent tips that can help improve your approach to an essay such as how to outline and what to include in your outline. The author tries to break down CIRAC/IRAC in different exercises. It can be a helpful book depending on your skill-level.

Title: Outdated- Wrong laws, thus, wrong answers
Review: Extremely outdated. Only reason I gave this book 1 star is because it does give somewhat helpful tips on essay writing, otherwise it is useless. Book contains practice essays with answers. Essay questions are okay in terms of giving you more practice material. However, when it comes to answers, don't even look at them if you do not want to get irritated or confused. Laws are outdated, especially, for civil procedure. I don't know if this book is good for states that do not have UBE, but I am taking NY bar this summer and this book is not helping me at all. Unless, you have someone who knows all applicable laws and is willing to check your answers to Campbell's questions (professor or someone from commercial bar prep, if your are taking one) I do not recommend to spend more money on it. I do recommend Campbell's MPT book though.

Title: THIS is the book to use
Review: I recently used this book to prepare for New York's bar exam essays. This book gives you a viable succinct format for writing bar exam essays. I took the BarBri workshop and this book was far more useful. It has many practice questions and essays (includes most states). For those of us who do not have the luxury of time to spend in endless workshops, this book allows you to learn the methodology at your own pace, and practice, practice, practice. Definitely worth every penny of the price.

Title: No need to read the whole book just learn/practice her technique
Review: The technique laid out in this book is all I remembered about structuring my bar exam essays. It worked because it kept me from adding superfluous facts unrelated to the rule (a reflexive bad habit of mine). It was also easy to remember so that even when I "knew nothing" and panicked I was able to create a rule, support it with facts, use the key transitional words, conclude, and move on. Most importantly I passed because my essays even under pressure were well-organized, clear, and concise.
