Title: wow, i really had no idea until i read this book!
Review: I've never even heard of the word probate before so i could be in the minority here but i never knew that the process of handling the affairs of the deceased can be so complicated. my initial reaction towards the legal procedures was a bit bitter and virulent thinking that the courts just want to seem more important than they really are and make revenue at our expenses but, by the end of the book, i'm now actually glad the whole thing is super complex. It's really the only way to prevent bad people from stealing money from the deceased (or their friends and families). Anthony does a real good job providing examples and relatable reasons concerning this throughout the book. The 2 topics that had my biggest attention were:1) you can decline to be the executor (person who carries out the requests made in a will) without looking like a jerk when a will states you as the executor. i never knew that there would be a legitimate reason to decline, let alone, under certain circumstances, declining is actually the nice thing to do. laziness and apathy, apparently, are not the only reasons why people refuse the requests of a deceased.2) you can get in trouble for trying to help out (as the executor). man, whatever happened to the spirit of being a good samaritan? it's funny that i can't get in trouble for offering assistance to someone who needs help but i can get in trouble for trying to help someone who is dead. (you have to read the book, this topic was super fascinating to me)For those of us who are nearing that age where our parents are beginning to consider these things... the wealth of information found in this little, concise, well written book is truly invaluable, for us and our family.

Title: The author provides relatable reasons and examples throughout the book
Review: This book is an accessible guide for laymen to understand the complex legal subject of settling an estate. It presents real world case examples and is concise and to the point, making it a valuable resource for those looking to navigate the probate process. The author provides relatable reasons and examples throughout the book, dispelling the myth that legal procedures exist solely to make revenue and make the courts appear more important. The author covers two particularly intriguing topics - the reasons why someone might decline to be the executor and the potential consequences of trying to assist as the executor. The book is invaluable for those nearing the age where they must consider these matters for their parents or themselves and their families.

Title: Easily understandable.
Review: Text is very readable, and contains examples illustrating all major points. This makes it easily understandable for a good range of readers. I had personally hoped for more detailed coverage in specific areas, but it does provide a good overall perspective of the process. I found it very helpful.

Title: Do people die outside of NY?
Review: Very helpful for a first time executor, however the bulk of examples in the book begin with "if you are in New York"... This is more annoying than problematic. The book provides high level guidance concerning the process, but a bit more depth would be amazing.

Title: helpful
Review: Legally probate is a nightmare for a family member trying to be helpful as an executor. even after reading the whole book, the sad part is our legal system is such a tangled mess and families are so unappreciative we still need to hire lawyers.

Review: It is ALL in the headline. IF you are in the UK - forget it. If in the USA, having flicked through it, it looks like a pretty decent and especially at the price point, is easy to read and a valuable introduction to an enormously complex subject.
