A portion of this book's proceeds will be donated to two military charities: the Special Operation Warrior Foundation and the Sua Sponte Foundation.
This book is the complete beginner's guide to long range shooting written in simple every-day language so that it's easy to follow. Included are personal tips and best advice from the author's years of special operations sniper schooling and experience, and as a sniper instructor.
This is the preliminary book to help you understand fundamental concepts such as MOA vs Mils and external ballistics, that can be like a trusted resource at the range.
If you are a brand new shooter, this book will walk you through the basics, help you make decisions on rifles, optics, and gear, and start you out with a solid foundation that will give you confidence as a new long range shooter. If you are an experienced shooter, this guide will be a resource and reference covering the principles and theory of long range shooting.
Learning to shoot long range isn’t that difficult!
Once you understand the basics, you can start to master your technique and you’ll be hitting targets in no time.
The author has a series of online instructional videos known for their ability to take seemingly complex areas of long range shooting and breaking them down so that they're easy to understand. This book was motivated by the feedback from those videos.
The handbook is broken down into three main categories:
What it is/How it works,
Fundamentals, and
How to use it.
"What it is/How it works" covers equipment, terminology, and basic principles.
"Fundamentals" covers the theory of long range shooting.
"How to use it" gives you practical advice on how to implement what you've learned so far to make you a long range shooter.

Title: Awesome book
Review: As a complete beginner to shooting a rifle, this book answered so many questions and explained so many things that I feel like an expert now (far from it obviously!). This book moves at a very nice pace, is easy to read, and doesn't get you bogged down in a bunch of details that you probably don't need to be concerned with when just starting out. MOA vs MRAD... FFP vs SFP... Instructions on sighting in your scope... And all kinds of tips and tricks on actually shooting (focus on the reticle, steady pressure on the trigger!). Can't wait to get out to the range and start applying my new found knowledge.

Title: Best beginner guide
Review: I have read this book through once and am starting a second time as Iâm getting closer to spending time and money on equipment. I have read 5 books on shooting and this is the best. His attitude about not trying to be perfect is refreshing. Skill will come with practice and experience. In the later chapters of the book he does give all the silly questions some attention, like how the earth spin affects the bullet and all the gee wis type things beginning shooters see in movies but are not sure how they apply. Remember if you are off 3â on paper at 100 yards then who cares if the bullet drops 2â when shooting 1,000 yards facing west. You are already going to miss by 3 feet so what is 2â really going to matter. Sorry that last bit was more of a me rant than an excerpt from the book. If you arenât sure about buying this book then look on YouTube 3 episodes of âWarrior poet societyâ where Ryan Cleckner was a guest star. That gives a sample of what reading this book is like. Stay safe!

Title: Easy Read, Clearly Laid Out & Written: Will take you 0-60 in no time!
Review: I am a "old salt" entering the competitive target shooting game after an almost 30 year lay-off from formal shooting. Never was a sniper, but shot USMC Expert all 10 years I was required to qualify/requalify - including just prior to my duty in Desert Storm. This was a great book as both a refresher, bringing back all of the old axioms we were told back when I was much younger, as well as introducing me to the new discipline of Long Range (LR) shooting, which for me was anything beyond 600 yards and iron sights. Quick and clearly written read with enough photos & definitions that anyone can follow and not feel completely lost when they get out to the range for the first time. No bad advice, or self-promotion here. Only good hard info that anyone will find useful. The "truth teller" for me in this book was the author's admission that though right handed and left eye dominate, he was able to shoot very proficiently using a right handed shooting position. On this point I have extensive experience, since that was exactly my situation (strongly left-eye dominant, but excellent eyesight in both eyes) when I went into the USMC (that and not having used anything but bolt-action rifles during my youth). Since, by direction of The Commandant, all marines will do as ordered, all 200+ of us on the range that week were taught to shoot as "right handers." The "sight picture" and shooting fundamentals taught (which are the same as the author covers) served me well as I shot my M-16, and qualified USMC Expert, cross-eyed for over a decade. Great book! Buy it!

Title: Very organized, and an informative resource
Review: This book has been informative, and chaulked full of information. The contents of this book is very easy to understand, and apply. It is also full of web resources which just adds to the value of this book. This is hands down the most informative guide to long range precision shooting I've seen on the market. The book is well organized and easy to read and comprehend. I can easily flip to a section to find the information I'm looking for. The book is well organized and laid out in three sections 1) Equipment 2) Fundamentals 3) Application, and the author goes into details in each section from theory to real world application that's been tried and tested by the author himself in real life battle situations! Don't second guess it buy the book, you will be impressed and educated! Thanks Ryan!

Title: Great book if you're just getting started !
Review: My experience with long range is none to limited, This book is for someone just starting out. The book is for you to understand the basics. It's just the beginning of the journey. The book includes information that will get you started in the understanding of process. I look forward to the second book. Basics matter! Get good at the basics and the rest will follow. Just like "Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast". I get the feeling some of the reviews just want to nitpick someone else's work. Great work ! I enjoyed the book and have learned a lot.

Title: Very easy and insightful reading
Review: Ryan Cleckner has a well-earned reputation as a great teacher for practical precision shooting. If you are relatively new to long range shooting you need to read this book. If you are struggling to improve, want a better understanding of the dynamics of good marksmanship, or hope to teach a friend how the whole precision shooting thing works- this book is well worth your time. Search on YouTube for videos of him offering tips and instruction. You will see why he is such a great resource.

Title: Very good book
Review: This is an excellent book full of information for a beginner who wants to have an understanding from the basics. If the reader already possess some previous knowledge would make easier reading and can probably bypass some of the very basic information. I bought this book because I wanted to learn how to properly use a high power scope before I take an intermediate long range shooting class.

Review: The cover of the book could have a better quality. It is also written in the Imperial system instead of the metric system which I wasn't expecting. Clarifying that would be good.
