A collection of Edgar Allan Poe's writings, including The Fall of the House of Usher—the inspiration for the Netflix series from Mike Flanagan, the director of The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass!

This selection of critical writings, short fiction and poetry demonstrates Poe’s intense interest in aesthetic issues and the astonishing power and imagination with which he probed the darkest corners of the human mind. “The Fall of the House of Usher” describes the final hours of a family tormented by tragedy and the legacy of the past. In “The Tell Tale Heart”, a murderer's insane delusions threaten to betray him, while stories such as “The Pit and the Pendulum” and “The Cask of Amontillado” explore extreme states of decadence, fear and hate.

Title: Finally!!!
Review: This is the correct book I was looking for my English class! All the other editions (that had this picture for the book image) were all wrong and the latest edition. I'm so happy I was finally able to find this book! The book is old, but it is in perfect condition. I had to wait awhile to get it, but it was worth the wait!!! It was delivered on the first date that was estimated. Very happy with my purchase

Title: Fall of the House of Usher
Review: This story was told to me first around the campfire as a child and I was not disappointed in the text.I am sure Poe didnt know how hectic life would be so many years after he wrote this, but a short thrilling story fits well into modern life.Further his language is refreshing; drawing the reader into the richness that English once was, describing places and people and the events that transpire in such a fashion one can relive the terror of the moment the narrator turns to see the bright light cursing through the fissure of the House of Usher, initiating its destruction entombing the Roddrick siblings forever.

Title: Two excellent comic talents team up for a very muddy Poe adaptation
Review: P. Craig Russell and Jay Geldhof make a terrific team. Their adaptation of the Poe classic sustains great mood throughout the story that builds up to a terrifying climax. I'd love to see more Poe adaptations from them in the future.

Title: Fine, but I wished there wasn't so much background noise
Review: There was a lot of background soundtrack that made it difficult to listen to. My son had to read this for class and this audio version was fine.

Title: Love Poe
Review: When I bought this book, it was meant only for my English class and I thought of getting rid of it after. However, I think I've reconsidered. Poe is a really great author and i enjoyed reading these stories. I love how most of the stories have some sort of connection to every other story and I just like the stories be cause they're an interesting.I would totally recommend reading this book. Plus, the fact that the Kindle edition isn't too expensive is a good thing. Not giving a five star rating because I don't know if I feel it's the best book in all existence.

Title: Full story review
Review: “The Fall of the House Usher” is a classic in Gothic literature written by Edgar Allen Poe, a renowned poet and writer. He is known mainly as a figure of gothic literature and romanticism. I would highly recommend the book for its plot twists and complicated characters. “The Fall of the House of Usher” is a mysterious and ominous tale of tragic deaths, madness, paranoia and plague. Readers who enjoy classic literature, creepy, off putting, and gory, mysterious themes would tend to be more drawn to the book. The target audience of the book is adults but it’s suitable for teens as well. The book also discusses gore and sensitive topics. The plot had me riveted. The story begins with an unknown narrator which adds more of a mystery to the plot. The unnamed narrator is on his way to visit his childhood friend, Rodrick Usher, gat his old decaying and ominous mansion which is believed to be haunted. The Ushers’ decaying mansion is described in detail; it is symbolic of the family itself. Its oppressive atmosphere reflects their mental and emotional state. Edgar Allan Poe’s description of the death and turmoil in the house makes the reader feel a sense of unease drawing them into the dark secrets of the Usher family. The characters display paranoia, madness, isolation, hallucinations keeping the reader on the edge of their seats, waiting for what happens next. One of the characters with the most depth is most definitely Rodrick. His psychological crisis makes his character interesting because he’s just so unpredictable. His sister, Madeline, also suffers the same illness as her brother. Madeline was more on the sidelines through the book but plays an important role. Personally, my favorite character was the unnamed narrator. He was the most rational and mentally intact but even he slowly descends to insanity. Without giving away too much of the plot, it can be said the ending of the story is both unexpected and haunting. It left a lasting impression on me when I turned to the last page. Overall I highly recommend this book to people who enjoy fictional horror and psychology thrillers. It’s a compelling and atmospheric tale.
